I'd been planning to draw something that showed I could draw the actual pokemon, too. (Not just the trainers, though I must say, I'm biased toward them because they're easier in most cases.)I was playing my blocky Gameboy Color, and wandered through Ilex forest again. I forgot that you can run into Paras there, so that became the focus of the drawing. I used three different textures and the color scheme from the old Sugimori art.

This is exactly how I pictured the forest. Darn, Dank, and possibly haunted. You know in the Gold/Silver remakes the games treat it as a cave instead of forest.

It looks ancient with the moss draped over the branches and the unique lighting.

That's the kind of vibe I got while playing through that area. Because it was a forest where you didn't need to walk in grass to find a Pokemon, it was unnerving. I got the feeling it was really old and overgrown.

Yeah! o-o I remembered that part now. It's one of my favorite places in G/S/C along with the National Park and Dragons Den. 
It's definetly overgrown though, it was constantly dark in there no matter what time of day it was, so that meant that the sun never shines through to the forest floor.
If only the in-game version looked as cool as this picture! ^w^
