I keep staring into his eyes... it's like Ken's trying to hypnotize me. xD
Love the coloring and pose! Really like how you did the hair.

I've been accused of falling into a rut by "breaking the fourth wall" and having the character look right at you, but I can't help it. The eyes being the windows to the soul and all that. Thanks for the fave!

Dunno why I took umbrage to that initial statement. It's entirely correct.

This is another beautiful piece by you. I do not usually associate that smile on the Eagle, but I like it. Especially if I think that he might be doing something to capture his favourite Swan's attention.

He sure looks like he knows he's getting away with something! It's really nice to see him here with a happy, mischievous expression -not enough of that in the series.

I think it was a little more lighthearted in the beginning of the series. Then again, they were younger and the battles were less ugly and more fantasy oriented. But hey, that's what fanart is for.

That is one suspiciously innocent looking Eagle...

Thanks! I've never been told I had amazing colors beforeβI'm still very new at color work. The scanner dimmed them a lot. It's mostly blue and violet undertones and very, very little black.

I had no idea what to shade with in color until I attended a color pencil drawing seminar at WorldCon (hosted by Mark Ferrari). He underlays his flesh tones with shading in blue or violet! Then he colors over with warmer flesh tones and uses a white pencil to buff and mix the colors. Give it a try. As for shading, I found this tutorial very helpful: [link] It demonstrates how using black for shading will flatten a drawing and how to use complimentary colors instead. In a lot of my more recent color pencil drawings, I try to use black as little as possibleβI use a combination of blue and brown instead.
Hair highlights are just repeated pencil strokes. Bear down where you want it to be dark and lighten the pressure where the light areas should be.
