Description

Print available!

2013.11.07, Duna Tower, Budapest, Hungary.

Nikon D90-IR - 10-24 @ 11 mm - f/8 - 1/10 sec - iso 200 - B+W 093 - NEF - Capture NX 2.2.6 - PS/CS6

After the positive outcome of my experiments with the Lee Big Stopper and the B+W 093 (830nm) infrared filters combined, I tried to use this setup for modern buildings. I don't know Budapest too well, so I took inspiration from kgeri and arbebuk - I hereby officially thank them for their tips on locations.

As for this shot, it's one half of a twin photo. Same composition (tripod), one with fast shutter speed (1/20 sec is "fast"), one about 10 stops slower (~3 minutes). They look cool next to each other - like a leopard and a zebra...

While I have seen this concept before, this is a very stunning example of it. Β +fav

The use of skyscrapers to reflect particularly clear air sky with high cumulous clouds. Β Dont quote me on that cloud type

Speaking of which: is there an advantage using IR in this particular pic? Β I've never used it Β so Im unfamiliar with the film, only the principles of the light wavelength zone.

Yes, much better dynamic range and contrast, no haze.

Excellent, thank you for the info. Β This explains a bit of the aforementioned 'stunning' quality I noted.
