This is something that's been in my mind for quite a while now, and I was initially rather unsure about whether I should have people know about this, mostly due to all the flak my past crossover couples, such as Odd/Setsuna which I no longer ship, got on Tumblr (in particular from a blog called terribleprecurethings ), but ever since I found a few fellow shippers like vanicchi (vanicchi.tumblr.com ) and maya-neko (maya-neko.tumblr.com) there as well, I've been in love with it more than ever. So here it is. Erika Kurumi/Cure Marine from Heartcatch Pretty Cure and Dragon Ryuho from Saint Seiya Omega, a couple I like to call Ryurika or BlueWavesShipping.

I've seen a lot of art of these two on Pixiv, but most of it just consists of them switching outfits, since many people (such as the person who made this: leika-kannon.deviantart.com/ar… ) think they look so alike they could be related (even my mom asked me if they were twins while I was in the process of coloring it). Personally, while I do see where the comparisons come from, they kinda feel like when people compare Cure Berry and Cure Beat just because they have similar hairstyles and color schemes, yet forget to pay attention to all the little details that make them different (cure-krismoth.tumblr.com/post/… ). In Erika and Ryuho's case, pretty much everything is different, especially concerning the subject of hair, which seems to be what stems these comparisons the most. The shades of blue, the way it waves/curls (Erika's is more traditionally wavy while Ryuho's is more fluffy than anything), the bangs, everything. Besides, even if they do look a tad alike, it's excusable because they were designed by the same person -- also, remember that Minnie Mouse is supposed to look like Mickey in a skirt and that never stopped anyone.

But back to the ship. I feel that Erika and Ryuho are quite similar, but at the same time quite different, and not just in terms of looks and powers. They're as different as night and day (Ryuho's all gentle and sweet and soft-spoken, while Erika, in the words of Robbie Williams, "got a hurricane in the back of her throat"), yet they'd probably hit it off quite well (Ryuho seems like he'd be a lot more tolerant of Erika's energetic and rambunctious behavior than Tsubomi was back in the early episodes of Heartcatch -- maybe he'd even find it kind of cute, unlike a certain Gemini Saint who was nothing short of creepy towards him). I think they'd make a great tag team in battle, with Ryuho on defense and Cure Marine on offense, and I can totally imagine Erika giving him fashion tips and sharing some of her color therapy knowledge with him. I already have piles of headcanons for these two and for how their relationship would be like. So, yeah, I got into this ship, and I'm not getting off anytime soon.
