Description Name: Skumm
Gender: N/A
Type: Unknown
Alignment: Aggressive
Height: 83 feet
Weight: 250 tons
Biography: A recently discovered monster from central Tarrun, Skumm is proof that new daikaijuu are still being born every day. It is a peculiar, fast-regenerating monster that has proven hard to classify, with traits from many different, unrelated phylums. One theory is that Skumm is not a singular creature at all, but rather a composite organism. It may be a (monstrously large) form of lichen, a mass of fungi and algae joined in a symbiotic relationship. Or it may be an entirely new type of organism all together. Whatever the case, Skumm is one of the most poorly understood kaiju in Tarrun and remains an enigma.
In terms of appearance, one of Skumm’s most prominent features is the red, bell-shaped “shell” on its back. In actuality this is the cap of an enormous mushroom, which as far as kaijuologists can tell is not a symbiote or parasite, but rather a natural part of the monster’s body. Whether or not it carries spores has yet to be determined.
It is a well established fact, however, that Skumm has rhizomorphs, the fungal equivalent of roots. When it was first discovered, Skumm was buried underground (its mushroom being the only visible part) with a vast network of rhizmorphs extending from its body. The surrounding area was quickly drained of moisture and nutrients, and by the time Skumm was confronted by the Alliance nearly three thousand acres of land had been destroyed.
It is also worth noting that, despite having two mouths and an array of large predatory teeth, Skumm does not eat meat (or anything else, for that matter). In fact it cannot swallow food at all, and the base of each neck is likely as far as either of its gullets go. This is because Skumm feeds through its “roots“, with the mouths serving a different, and far stranger, purpose.
While neither of its two heads appear to have sensory organs, Skumm does have two eyes. Inside each mouth is a single, giant eyeball, attached to a long tongue-like cord of muscle. When these eyes are in use Skumm holds them in its opened mouths, giving its necks an eyestalk-like appearance and using its jaws for lids. When Skumm wishes to protect the eyes it simply swallows them; the eyes slide down to the bottom of the throats and rest there, safe from harm. To retrieve them, Skumm contracts the tethers attached to them, pulling them back into the mouth.
The cords are important for another reason, though. Just as they can pull the eyes up, they can also push them out. This is because Skumm’s eyes are, as strange as it sounds, weapons. Before they are spat out, Skumm secretes an excess of thin, watery saliva which foams up into the mouths. This mysterious liquid coats the eyes and, reacting with the air, hardens into a thin, transparent, (and completely impenetrable) shell. The weaponized eyeballs are then shot out of the mouth at lightning speed, flying out as far as a body length away and striking with incredible force. The results can be devastating.
In terms of personality, not much is known. Skumm spends most of its time underground, asleep or leeching minerals, and its waking behavior (if it has any at all) has never been observed. During the few encounters the Alliance has had with it, it has displayed a certain level of curiosity, and perhaps even a (sick) sense of humor, but too little is known to say for sure. It is definitely known to be an Aggressive, however, as it will viciously and immediately attack any monster it sets eyes on.

Trivia: Unlike most monsters, Skumm’s name was given to it by humans. It was named for the shaggy, wet texture of its hide, which some have likened to pond scum. Ironically, it may actually be part algae…

If it's a lichen, then it could be a monstrous Squig. Squigs are half-tyranid, half-ork livestock of the monstrously complex lichen beings known as Orks. Orks live for war, and have a childlike reasoning as "orks was made for fightin's and winnin's". They have Gretchen and Snotling subtypes, but the squigs are the result of an experimental breed by the Tyranid Hive Mind to use Ork DNA to make superior soldiers. The results, Squigs, we're far more attuned to the gestalt psychic force of the orks, known as the Waaaugh!, so when orks were drawn to the bishop they were on, they looted/rescued the orky livestock. They come in all sorts of myriad forms, bred by the Orks for almost any function. Skumm, with its similar temperament and simple name, would fit right in as a Squiggoth replacement.

Reminds me of Lovecraft, was he an inspiration on this?

Huh. Lovecraft, really? I never would've expected to hear that... but then again, I don't know a whole lot about his monsters besides Dagon and Cthulu. The only inspiration for Skumm I can think of was the aliens from King of the Monsters 2.

Oooooh, haha. Yeah, that makes quite a difference.

Yes, I do. I've got a lot more than this planned actually, it's just a matter of finding the time for it.

WOW! Clearly one of the more unusual looking kaiju on DA... looks more like something of a very morbid dreamscape .
You sure have immense talent in making mossy textures.

The most bizzare plant Kaiju ever, and the most interesting and awesome looking all at once.

I love that the eyes are weapons-Giant Mace eyeballs are the best things I've seen today.

Yay for giant, killer fungi! Seriously, we need more of them...

I wonder what would happen if Skumm ever came across Vedarah?

One of the most bizzare plant kaiju I've seen yet. This wins on so many levels its not even funny. It hits things with its eyeballs in a fashion similar to a ping-pong ball and thats just all kind of hilarity. Critter is hard on the enviroment though lol.

This creature screams of good old fashion freaky giant monsters. Two heads, eyes in the mouth and its part fungis. Reminds me of somthing out of Tim Burtons ideas.
