We now enter the Ice Age, and animals are starting to take on new forms, in the Americas a new breed of hunter as arrived, as a herd of bison grazes a cat is stalking them, one of the bison sounds the alarm and the hunt begins a Smildon brings down one of the bison wrestling it to the ground then delivering a fatal blow. This is a young male, about 4 years old and ready to find a pride of his own, he's been kicked out of his pride when he was 3 by his father, for sometime he's hunted alone, but he sees a pride, after defeating the current male, he takes his place as leader, but the females aren't accepting him yet, some of the females left the pride fearing the safety of their unborn cubs.

A herd of Columbian Mammoths are searching for food, a calf has wandered off and a Homotherium takes the calf down and brings it to its lair, not willing to engage a raging mother, cats are more successful than any other predator before them, a Titanis tries to get at the dead mammoth from the Homotherium, but the cat won't allow it.

Smilodon not only regin supreme in North America, they also rule South America as well, Macrauchenia and Toxodon are the prey, as this pride will demonstrate, the females do most of the hunting and separate a Macrauchenia from the herd, then he is brought than the cats subdue the animal then use the famous sabers severing the blood supply, one bite and the prey is dead. And of course scavengers are abundant, like Phorusrhaus, a cousin of Titanis of North America.

Back at our pride, a Shasta Ground Sloth has come to browse, a young female around the same age as the new pride leader, goes in to investigate the strange creature, but the Ground Sloth doesn't like her near and swipes at her, but she dodges, the sloth puts that as a warning to back off. The Ground Sloths have been around for sometime, and the Shasta Ground Sloth has some bigger relatives in South America, Megatherium. Smilodon are wise to keep their distance from this colossus.

There are other mammal carnivores, that includes the American Lion and the Short Faced Bear. One Bear drives off a pack of Dire Wolves from a kill using its size to intimidate them, then get their kill. The lion is like its African and Eurasian relatives, a cubΒ  harass a Glpytodon, but backs off from the armadillo, and in South America, Doedicurus had a spiked tail club on the end of its tail, which can be used as a weapon.

Smilodon were successful predators until 10,000 years ago, when a new predator evolved, as a human hunter watches the plains.

Pleistocene Europe is a magnificent time. Β The greatest animal of the Cenezoic lived there. Β The woolly mammoth. Β And it shared the environment with many wonderful beasts. Β Among them are not one but TWO separate species of human.
