Description This is the first release of the long series that "Prospect" will become.

I decided to make a serie like this for a few reasons. I want to photograph architecture in a relatively abstract way. I want to make myself and the viewers really wonder what it is that they are looking at (of course, i would have an edge on this, but i find it easy to get lost in things again and experience bliss). I want to make it a serie so that i can see my progress capturing these things. For the most part, they will be about architecture, but you never know.

So, this picture, along with the second one, was taken at the American Museum of Natural History in New York. This was taken in the Astronomy wing, and i cannot explain what it is.......because doing so would ruin any possible mystery that this might have.

Thank you for viewing, and for leaving a thought

This is a fantastic piece. I love the splash of curves and straight lines, and the monochromatic finish gives it a nice touch. So was this rotated 180 degrees, or is the place really that intriguing in real life?

By the way, that's a mesmerising avatar.

Fantastic shot!
I love the way everything looks slightly off balance.
Excellent lighting, of course excellent angle, and an excellent subject.
Kindof reminds me of a snazzed-up Death Star.

Keep up the amazing work!

If my instincts detect correctly, this image is upside-down. That is a very interesting perspective to take, I like it a lot. The fact it was taken in an astronomy wing is sory of funny as well, because when you think about, there really is no right-side-up in the universe, its all subjective. The lines work well, and to me it is just overall an interesting photo to look at.

Amazing detail in this. It's almost abstract. I really like the black and white in this too. Definitely a plus Another formation of originality. You have a great eye for detail and capturing the very most in photographs It's amazing. I admire your work so much. Awesome job, yet again

Looks familiar somehow. Would this be a bit of scenery used in the movie ยซK-PAXยป? — If you haven't seen that movie, it comes highly recommended by me

dinyctis In reply to inshadowz [2004-12-25 23:40:45 +0000 UTC]

I have seen the movie, and this is in the same city in which the movie takes place (Manhattan), but i do not recall such a place in the movie.

That said, i havent watched the movie in a long time, so it's a possibility that it's the same spot

If you fast-forward to where dr Powell takes Prot to talk to the astronomers, that's the location I have in mind. I'm not giving away important clues for the ones who are trying to guess here, am I?

Very nice shot man. I like how you're keeping the series black and white as well. While I have no clue what it is, I like the unique angle and the entire composition and how it can lend itself to so much more or create an image of something different(what it may be) for whoever just happens to be looking at it.

It's far to clean to be a floor, so i'll go for a ceiling but of what.. mmh.. takes another look..
Two circles and one of them is connected by a 'bridge' so it must be connection of sorts between different parts of this building.. maybe where the elevator is?

Anyway i like the very clean lines and the geometry in this. Great design you captured here.
