INFP - The Mediator | Phlegmatic | Neutral Good | Type 9 - The Peacemaker | Optimist
Timid & Flighty // Gentle & Courteous // Curious & Enthusiastic // Idealistic // Destructive // Apologetic
Goose grew up on the streets, and the streets have fundamentally shaped who she is.
A shy and timid girl, it doesn't take all that much to frighten her, and she is incredibly slow to warm up to both people and situations. She is immensely flighty, having learned that it is always safer to get gone than risk a confrontation. Afraid of both loud sounds and unexpected movements, life in the downtown core often proves too much for her, and she is known to retreat into the quieter corners around Canidale.
Goose displays none of the aggression that often characterizes stray dogs, and true to her father's breed is immensely gentle, even without proper training. She has a strong drive to please others, and in spite of her anxiety is always a respectful and courteous young lady. Goose is a born mediator who despises conflict, and will do anything to avoid raised voices. She loves the thrill of the chase, but often feels immense shame over hunting.
In spite of her anxieties, Goose loves to explore, and is curious to see all that the world has to offer her. Once she is comfortable in a situation, she will do everything with 100% enthusiasm, and can actually become quite intense and overwhelming to those that don't know her.
Though she is horribly fearful of both humans and other dogs alike, she is tired and weary of life on her own, and in her heart the lifelong stray yearns to be loved. Idealistic to a fault, Goose looks positively towards the future, and believes that the world is ultimately a good place. Maybe - if she is especially lucky - she will even find a family one day. Goose sometimes struggles to control her more destructive urges. From bones to sticks to others' personal property, she is willing to chew just about anything, a trait which she first picked up to calm her nerves. Like any good husky she is a master escape artist, which may make her dreams of home life a bit difficult. Nonetheless, she is always immensely apologetic after ruining something she shouldn't have, and rarely needs to be told to correct bad behaviour twice.
H i s t o r y
Goose never had a home to call her own.
As is the story for so many strays, her birth was an accident; a tryst between a showline retriever and a wiley street dog that just so happened to find herself in his neighbourhood one night. They spent some weeks together, and though the husky had grown fond of her mate, the pet life ultimately proved unfulfilling to her. Just as soon as the stray arrived on his doorstep she vanished, carrying with her the memories of their brief time together. Goose’s father and his human family would never know of the six puppies born one rainy summer night in a shallow culvert in the middle of the city, nor would those puppies ever know the comfort and safety of their father’s life. From the day of her birth onward Goose and her siblings were raised in the streets, their mother teaching them to be quick and clever, just as she was. Their living was meek, but it was all they had.
In spite of knowing nothing else, the young Goose spent many a night gazing through window panes, dreaming about a different life. She struggled to thrive as her brothers and sisters did, and as she aged, the large city of her birth became too much for the nervous stray. Though Goose loved her mother and her siblings immensely, she knew she would never feel safe there, with its bright lights and constant noise and angry homeowners ready to chase her away with their brooms or sticks. She needed a quiet life, and for that she would have to move on to new pastures.
And so she set off one morning, her heart set on finding a place she belonged. After many days of wandering, the young dog ultimately found herself looking upon the valley of Canidale. She settled down near the local campsites, taking comfort in the quiet tranquility and the fleeting faces of the visitors. Things were safe where nobody stuck around longer than a week; a week was never long enough to get attached. Though she managed to avoid developing affections for the vagrant humans, they nonetheless took notice of her, and soon rumors began to pop up about the black-and-white stray of Great Oak Park. "Goose" they called her, when they managed to sneak a glimpse, for she spent much of her time swimming and resting amongst the Canada geese, whose colours were charmingly matched to hers.
Now, she figured, was as good a time as any to make a name for herself.
T r i v i a
- She is skittish and slow to warm up to people, but once she has she becomes extremely talkative
- The nickname "Goose" was started by a single fisherman on Lake Sigdus, but it seems to have caught on, and now most people in Canidale who recognize her try to call her by that name
- She is more frightened by littler dogs
- Although beggars can't be choosers while out on the street, Goose is a very picky eater
- The best word to describe most aspects of her appearance is "droopy"
