Description "She'll never see me as anything. . . but a monster."

I just can never stop thinking of that line when I look at this picture.

Now, this drawing is fairly accurate in using shading to express tone of the picture. I like this one because it's fairly detailed. You know how to shade, however in many of your drawings I don't see it. You've simply contained certain elements of art to certain pictures, which is something that shouldn't be done.
Just sayin', bro.

John Silver is not boring. If you saw the movie you might find him interesting. There's more to him than what you see in this picture.

Uh, he's not in prison. Its his stateroom. And he's not a dog. He's an Ursid. An alien with bear features, but he's more human by 70%.

And even though he's one of those 'Mr. Tough-guys' and a great pirate, it reveals in his movie that he has a bit of a sensitive side. In my story, that side shows when he feels that the woman he is in love might not have the true feelings he wants her to have for him because of his looks and because of the hideous scars on his body.

That monster was thin, had oily hair brushed to the side, a paintbrush mustache, and beady eyes. Oh yeah sure, he looks so much like him. Not.

Sensitive as in feelings.

"And feelings + Cyborg; isn't that contradictory? I mean in every movie I've ever seen, or book I've been forced to read, cyborg's have no feelings. It's one of their trademarks." You are talking about him as though he's a robot.

Marina doesn't see him like that right away. She gets saddened by the pain in his past.

Silver's hair is not oily. It's ruffled and to the side because he is scarred on his right side. Hair doesn't grow on that side, so it's all on the left. No he doesn't have beady eyes. Silver's eyes are large and rounded. One may be mechanic, but it still rounded and not beady.
He has a round belly and thick neck and nearly everything else is muscles. My own dad is built the same way as Silver. He has a beer belly, but I wouldn't call it fat. When it comes to fat, you walk with a sway, your skin overlaps, you can run fast at all, and breathe loudly like you've got asthma. I've seen several when I work. There's the fat, the big boned, and the beer bellied. Silver here is the beer bellied kind.

Silver is not a machine. He was born a full fleshed of his species under he got older and had a freak accident while going after his dreams of finding treasure. So he has cyborg body parts like prosthetics. What you're are think of are cyborgs like the Terminator. Silver is not a robot. He is a living being with feelings and flesh and blood. He just has mechanical parts on his right side.

Yes, Marina loves him with all her heart. It just that when she sees him for the first time with these scars, her heart just sinks and she feels so frightened about the pain he went through.

He wears a bandana. That's how he covers it.

When one has beady eyes, they squint a lot making their eyes look small or glaring. Silver's eyes in this picture are not beady. They're slightly closed. Look at any other picture of him and you'll see that he doesn't have beady eyes.

Only his neck and his belly over laps. Not his arms, not his hips, not his thighs. That's what all overweight people have. But, you know what, it doesn't matter. Looks NEVER matter in a person to the others who love them or befriend them.

How does that make her a Sue? It's common.

HE TAKES IT OFF BEFORE HE GOES TO BED!! DUH!!!

SILVER DOESN'T HAVE BEADY EYES!!! THEY ARE ROUNDED!!

HIS ARM IS MUSCULAR!! IT IS SHOWN IN THE MOVIE SEVERAL TIMES THAT HE HAS BULKING MUSCLES IN HIS ARM!!!

If you watch any animated movie as many times as I do, you should be able to study the anatomy of characters including the body parts that are not revealed because of clothes. Like the shape of the legs underneath a dress or pants. You know, like when you look at Cruella De Vil from the back, you can't see her body because of the fur coat she wears. But if you look at the position of her hands, arms, feet, and head, you would get the general idea of what the rest of her body is posed behind that coat. It's part of a lesson I learned in animation class.

I do not fail with this conversation. Why would a person judge another because they are ugly? Why was Fiona in love with Shrek? Why did Belle fall in love with Beast? Why did Esmerelda help Quasimodo when everyone else was calling him ugly and making fun of him? Why? Because they looked beyond what the eyes see. They looked into their eyes and saw what kind of a person they really are. That's just the way I am. I don't believe in the word ugly when it comes to people. You probably do, but not me. Everyone is different with feelings of others, so don't bother arguing about what I believe.

Uh, that doesn't make Marina perfect. She isn't 100% perfect at all. She makes a lot of mistakes, she has a lot of attitude problems most of the times, she hates certain types of people especially the snobby brat kind, she is scared to death of many kinds of bugs especially spiders and roaches, she can be a little naive, she's a little afraid of the dark, she hates to be alone, she can easily cry at something, she hates guns, and she hates wearing clothes she finds tacky.

Ugh, is that a big rock on your shoulders, or are you just plain stupid? He went to sleep without the bandana, but he woke up in the middle of the night. And why the hell must you turn everything around into an argument? His eyes are not beady. When I described Hitler I said he had beady eyes because every picture I see of him his eyes are squinty and glaring. Silver's eyes are not like that. His eyes are not like beads in the first place. They are very rounded and his left eye has a perfect shade of green if you look carefully. You can't see it in this picture but in tight close ups, you can see it.

What are you talking about? I DID have an animation class! It's just one day that our teacher put in the movie of Dalmation and wanted us to sketch a few poses. He paused the movie when Cruella was turned around and wanted us to draw what we thought was the pose of the body parts we couldn't see.

Forced into close contact, maybe. But you have to realize that they saw beyond the hideousness of the guys they were with and saw something more than looks. I took those two classes in college and know about that stuff. Besides, it's just the way I am that I never judge people by looks but by their character. When I first glanced at John Silver, I knew right away that he wasn't human because of his different features in his face, hands, and legs. Then seeing the cyborg prosthetics made me think ". . . whoa." But the moment they were revealed, was also when I saw what a charismatic character he was. The same scene shows what a great since of humor he has, how suave he was, and gentle he was with his pet, but when the other characters left, he revealed that he was the villain of the film. Just one look in the eye when he was silent, I knew what type he was, the dangerous kind who doesn't want anyone in his way. Turned out later in the film that I was right.
When I watched the movie over and over again, I found in Silver that there's more to him than what we see in the movie.

In my story, Marina and her friends are on board Silver's ship because they have to travel from world to world for their mission of fighting monsters and saving people. Of course, she and her friends don't realize it that Silver is elite with the enemy they are fighting. They know he's a pirate, but don't suspect him as a double agent. And no Marina is not a cyborg. That has nothing to do with anything. Similarities? Ever heard of 'opposites attract'? Okay maybe some don't but one thing similar with them is their love of gold, space, and freedom. But it hardly matters. When Silver firsts meets her, he falls for her beauty but later on finds her attractive through her emotions and personality and not just her beauty. Marina just gradually begins to like him as a close friend and later finds that she's in love with him because of his personality as well.

No Marina is not whom I want to be. I may have a cartoon crush like many other girls on a certain character, but I'm fine the way I am. She's just a character I created and my story is just told in 'first person' because I like first person stories.

I made her up years before Treasure Planet came out. After I saw the movie and fell in love with the animation Glen Keane did for Silver and with the charisma and charm of the character, I wanted my character and him to be together.
