Conceived during an eclipse within the heart of a raging volcano, the Tome of the Elemental Discord is the embodiment of elemental chaos. A cabal of mages who delved too deeply into the primal forces of nature created this tome, which is said to bind the fury of fire and the abyss of ice within its pages. It thrums with a palpable dissonance, a constant battle between searing heat and numbing cold, contained only by the powerful runes emblazoned on its cover.
Properties of the Tome of the Elemental Discord:
Cataclysmic Command: The wielder can manipulate the elements to cast either "Wall of Fire" or "Wall of Ice" once per day, without expending a spell slot.
Primal Balance: When casting elemental spells, the caster can choose to either ignite or freeze their targets, imposing either the Burning or Frozen condition for a turn.
Tempest's Heart: The book acts as a conduit for elemental energy, allowing the caster to add 1d8 of fire or ice damage to any spell that deals damage.
Curses of the Tome of the Elemental Discord:
Elemental Turmoil: Harnessing such power comes at a cost. After using the Cataclysmic Command, the caster must succeed on a DC 15 Constitution saving throw or suffer effects of extreme heat or cold for an hour.
Unstable Fusion: The elemental forces within the tome vie for dominance. Each time an elemental spell is cast from the tome, there's a chance the opposing element will lash out, potentially harming the caster or their allies.
Chains of Discord: The tome desires balance but at a great personal cost. If the bearer of the book dies, they are resurrected immediately as an elemental being of fire or ice, bound to the will of the tome for eternity.
