Description I have discovered that I like drawing Emily (a.k.a. the beating heart bride from the Haunted Mansion). So, here she is, sitting alone on a trunk. Um, little trivia about this piece, that is suppose to be the trunk that holds her body, hence the piece of cloth sticking out of it.

I am not sure of the story behind the picture, it just sort of popped into my head, this idea of her spending years in the attic, basically alone (since the Hatbox Ghost was taken away). Not sure what exactly I was getting at with the butterfly but you can make up your own meaning if you so choose.

I cheated a bit on the lighting effects on the trunk, I am not good at shadows, so I did something a little sloppy. You look at it, I guess you can say the light is coming from her. I am most upset about the background, I wanted to have it in the attic, but I did not have the discipline to draw it all out. So, here is the HM wall paper that I found on the net because it looks better than just having straight black.

I hope you like it.

Haunted Mansion and it's characters belong to Disney.

I like to think that Emily was the bride of the Hatbox Ghost and she is still around the mansion but her spot has been usurped by Constance which is why she doesn't appear to guest that often these days.

very nice, although the part with her body in the trunk is debatable because others say she was pushed out of the attic window. (In each story, Madame Leota was the one behind it)

yeah, I know, but that's what makes the mansion great, all the different stories and interpretations. That's the one I chose to follow.

My headcanon is that the bride in the trunk is Hattie's bride, and the one who was pushed out of the window was the Ghost Host's. Or the other way around, I'm not exactly sure.

What I like best about this piece is the color of the butterfly and the sense of motion about it - it seems to be just about to land on Emily's hand. Can't say I know much about the subject matter, since I've only ever been in the HM once, but I like this a lot.

Hatty was actually George Gracey Sr., The Ghost Host's father. Constance is rumored to be George Sr.'s axe-brandishing wife, who probably--like Madame Leota, the mystic--didn't approve of the taste in women Master Gracey (her son) chose. XD

The great thing about the Haunted Mansion is that you can make up your own stories. The ride is basically a set of scenarios that lets the imagination of the audience set up the connections that they like to make. So, that is what I did. So, in retrospect, there isn't really a true set in stone story.

Yeah. Phantom Manor though, is a different matter. Its story is officialized.

But that is the Phantom Manor, not the Haunted Mansion, they are pretty much two different rides. This is not the bride from the Phantom Manor.

I know, but Emily isn't even in the Mansion anymore. Constance--rumored to be the axe-weilding bride that lopped off the head of George Sr. (Master Gracey's father) to turn him into The Hat Box Ghost--has taken the place of her possible daughter-in-law in the attic, although Emily's heartbeat can still be faintly heard on the soundtrack.

So, just because she is not in the ride anymore means that I can't draw her? I like her more than Constance. Anyway, the Hatbox ghost was there before Constance was in the attic. The original idea was that the hatbox's ghost head would disappear and reappear in time with the heart beat of Emily. I already stated, people have their own ideas, that is the great thing about the Haunted Mansion, it leaves up to the mind of the rider to fill in whatever gaps that they see. I am not forcing a storyline on you so please do not force one on me.

Hey, I am going by what Cast Members have said. And I am not saying you can't draw Emily just because she's no longer there. In fact, I too prefer Emily to Constance, if the truth be told.

Well, I am sorry if I came across as defensive. Anyway, yeah, I drew this not to spark any kind of argument just because I find that I enjoy drawing her and needed to get this image down on paper.

I like seeing people draw her, so she's not forgotten.
