Of course, how about cities and village icons. I wonder what the rough starting size for such a thing. IΒ΄m amazed by the detail/precision/size relationship you are able to pull of, iΒ΄m reffering to your cartographer annual at profantasy ( just saw the walled city ).

This is wonderful! Trees/forests are, in my opinion, the most tedious part of drawing a map. This is a great collection of different styles.

thanks, yeah trees is a lot of work. Fortunately once you have a good bunch of them, you can copy them without making it too obvious... (if you draw digitally ofcourse

I need to make another go at a digital map. Thus far all of mine have been done by hand one way or another.

Djekspek In reply to SylvaKnight [2012-03-23 11:52:07 +0000 UTC]

well... nothing beats a real handdrawn map (and yours are gorgeous), they just take soooo much time to make (at least for me

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

SylvaKnight In reply to Djekspek [2012-03-23 14:28:02 +0000 UTC]

Thanks! And yes, they are time-consuming...especially the stinkin' trees.

I'm thinking maybe next time I'll try handdrawing certain areas, like the mountains, and then do the rest (trees, labels, etc.) digitally.

Djekspek In reply to SylvaKnight [2012-03-26 18:35:23 +0000 UTC]

that may be a good way to go and save time while keeping the handdrawn feel to it. Just make sure you post it to dA when ready

I certainly will. Again, lovely reference!
