HARRY POTTER

This piece turned out very differently from what I first had in mind. Originally, I was supposed to update a couple of shojo manga drawings that I found in a 1970s coloring book and give them a modern “Koh Kawarajima” look. Since I earlier promised a Hermione Granger fan art, I decided to kill to birds with one stone and draw the lead cast of Harry Potter anime style.

Hah! Easier said than done.

It took me about seven tries before I got Hermione right. You can find two of the “rejects” in the “scraps” section. From then on, drawing Harry and Ron was easy. (Harry was the easiest to draw.)

Tools of the trade:

Bensia refillable pencil – rough sketch (on A4 bond paper)
Quikidon 0.5 mechanical pencil – details and corrections (on A4 tracing paper)
Artline 0.2 drawing pen – inks (on A4 tracing paper)
Canon F330P flatbed scanner – scans
Adobe Photoshop 5.0 – colors
Me – I’m a total tool
