I traveled with Mario and his friends across Rougeport. We learned of a door underneath the town that hasn’t opened in a thousand years. Only by collecting the seven crystal stars could we open the door. Every time we got near this door, I felt the presence of something powerful behind it, and something very evil. At first I dismissed it, but the more crystal stars we brought there, the stronger it got. I didn’t know if we should continue our quest, for whatever I was sensing might be too strong for us to handle. But Princess Peach was in enemy hands, and we had to save her regardless.

Time went on, and we found all seven crystal stars, and we returned to the fabled door, which finally opened. The dark presence was now very strong, and pressed down on me like my head was being squeezed. But I didn’t care. We had come this far, we weren’t about to back down now.

We fought our way through the palace of shadow until we made it to the altar, where Peach was lying on the ground, and Not Bowser was standing before us. He opened the lid of a coffin behind them, and the room filled with darkness. There was a giant purple feminine-looking demon over the coffin, and was the source of all that evil energy I was sensing. The demon placed her massive hands over Peach’s body and the room filled with darkness again.

This is what Peach looked like when the room lit back up again. Part of me liked her new look. The other part of me wanted to exorcise the demon from her body and beat it to death. Maybe Peach could wear this costume on Halloween or something.

Say what you will about Princess Peach, but fans of her took a shine to her once she raided the Evil Queen’s wardrobe and looked like this. I’ve seen lots of fanart of Shadow Peach, but unfortunately very few cosplays. Still, once my deviation count hit the mark of the beast, I wanted to make sure Incarnation of Devil was the included song, and that I was drawing a villain. I had tossed around the idea of drawing Ethereal Queen again (where this song usually plays), but I couldn’t find a picture of her I liked, let alone cosplays. Then I thought of drawing Cinder Fall again, but nobody seemed to care about my RWBY fanart, despite my love for the series, and that it was a tribute to its fallen creator. Still looking for a villain to draw, I looked at the Shadow Peach drawings I’ve been seeing in my inbox, and I decided to draw her.

All villains should have an evil laugh, but I thought when Shadow Peach does one, it needed to be a special kind of laugh; the kind done by a noblewoman. She doesn’t do one in the game, but she could’ve at least done one form of an evil laugh after destroying Grodus. Then again, Grodus should’ve known that he couldn’t control a thousand year old demon. He didn’t have enough badges! He got what he deserved when Shadow Peach summoned a lightning bolt, obliterating Grodus’ body in one stroke.

Peach’s hands gave me the most trouble, unsurprisingly. I looked at her sprites from the game to help me get her colors right, but she looks like she’s wearing mittens. So I had to look up various anime women doing the noblewoman’s laugh to help me draw her hands. I also used Peach’s amiibo for good measure, but I didn’t want to use all the details in it. I stuck with using her sprite.
