Ohyo! This took terribly a long time for some reason because historially there are quite few impossible inaccuracies in this picture-- this is partly because I had difficult time trying to figure out who Maid Marian would be long ago Japan. My answer was royal lady which primary translates into princess, "Hime". (On side note, two people had suggested Miko Marian while I was working on this picture coloring, a bit too late, but might have a better idea) During the rising warlord period of Japan, simpler and practical kimonos were fashionable so in case of attack, lovely ladies may run away, while as much as throughout all times before industrialization, patterned fabrics of grace and beauty showed status-- good status.

A minor "hanakotaba", flower language, is also here: the blue flowers are "forget-me-nots" and the yellow flowers are yellow chrysanthemum for friendship and trust with a small red chrysanthemum for love on the arrow in the tree she found.
