Description
Name: Batgaze
• Prefix - Bat | Batgaze was given this prefix due to her abnormally large, bat-like ears and her tendency to stay up late.
• Suffix - Gaze | Batgaze was given this suffix as a nod to her extremely adept observational skills.
• Nicknames - Bat | Batgaze is alright with being referred to with only her prefix, though only if consent is given. If the other feline doesn't ask and just refers to her as Bat, she finds it extremely disrespectful.
• Previous Names - Runt/Runty | Batpaw
Age: 24 Moons
Gender: Female (She/Her)
Appearance: A small calico she-cat with strong legs, very large ears, green eyes, and a spotted nose.
Personality:
Positive || Neutral || Negative
[ Calm | Knowledge-hungry | Observant || Quiet | Placid || Reckless | Clumsy | Arbitrary ]
[Calm]
"I'm going to go for a walk, okay?" || Batgaze maintains a calm, collected nature under most circumstances. She doesn't panic very often and she does her best to keep her head clear. She won't rush to complete something, and if she has to she will do so while maintaining a calm, collected nature.
[Knowledge-Hungry]
"Ooh, that sounds interesting. Can you tell me more?" || Ever since Batgaze was young, she wanted to know as much as she can about the world. She finds everything extremely intriguing, and she will always do her best to learn and pay attention.
[Observant]
"Hey, thats new." || Growing up with a mute brother has its perks, and this is just one. Due to her brother being unable to speak, Batgaze had to learn how to be attentive and observational. She is exceptionally attune to facial expressions, body language, and her surroundings.
[Quiet]
"..." || Batgaze is more of a cat of action rather then words. She grew up with her mute brother, so sometimes talking is a bit unnatural for her, seeing as she wouldn't speak to her brother because he wouldn't speak back. She believes there are many other ways to have a conversation with a cat, but talking is just the most well known of them. She enjoys listening to others, but she will rarely interrupt others or start conversations.
[Placid]
"Oh, that's exciting." || Batgaze is not easily upset or excited. If she gets upset over something, it won't be something minimal such as a small disagreement. She very rarely gets excited over things, but that doesn't mean she doesn't care. She dislikes this trait in herself and she constantly thinks that if she's not excited, she's being rude.
[Reckless]
"I'll beat you to the top of this tree and make it back to camp before you can say mousetail!" || Batgaze is a little competitive, so her recklessness is often accompanying her less evident competitive nature. If presented with a challenge, Batgaze will often jump right into it, often ending with bad results.
[Clumsy]
"No, what. I didn't just fall directly onto my face. Idunno what you're talking about." || Even though Batgaze has stopped growing, it still seems as though she isn't used to her body. She stumbles over her own paws, overshoots when hunting, or even just loses her footing for seemingly no reason. In her opinion this trait always seems to show itself at the worst times.
[Arbitrary]
"let's just go this way. I'm sure it'll get us back." || Batgaze will often act on her own personal whims, which isn't always good. These almost always cause her to get into arguments or get herself an injury of some sort. Not to mention this trait adds to her recklessness, and her clumsiness doesn't seem to do it any good either.

History:
|Prior to birth|
Batgaze's parents seemed to be perfect for one another. They got along swimmingly, they shared the same interests and likes, the only thing bad about their relationship was that her father, Simon, was an alley cat and her mother, Callie, was a kittypet. Unfortunately, Callie's owners didn't take to him very well. The two would meet up at the fence every day, but their meetings were always abruptly ended with Callie's twolegs chasing Simon off. One day, Simon came to see that the twolegs had gone away, Callie explaining that they were on vacation and their neighbor was checking on her every day. Simon began to stay with Callie to ensure she was safe while her twolegs were away, making sure to hide whenever her neighbor would come check on her. After about a week, her twolegs returned and they were back to the same routine, Simon getting chased off nearly every day. But things were different. There were large brown boxes in the windows and the humans were putting things in them. They were moving. Callie was kept inside after her twolegs found out she was expecting, Simon having no idea what was going on. Callie had her kittens one week before the move, but the twolegs decided to get rid of them. Callie loved her kittens more then anything, but she didn't have a choice. Her twolegs took them from her one day, got into one of the monsters, and drove off. They didn't return with the kittens. Later that day, Callie and her humans moved out of their house, everyone piling into the two monsters, driving away, Simon left clueless and unaware that he was a father. |Kitten|
Batgaze was born as a kittypet to a loving mother with a sleek white coat and green eyes, but that's just about all she remembers of her mother. She was abandoned on the side of the street with her mute brother right after they'd opened their eyes and ears. After wandering for about a day or so, the two kittens were taken in by an old alley cat by the name of Brian. He was a kind elderly tom, They lived with him on the streets until they were around five moons. One day, Brian stationed the kittens at their home under a large green dumpster, but never returned. Batgaze, named Runt at the time, set out to look for him, finding his dead body in the middle of the street. He had been hit by a monster, and the kittens were now on their own. After the sudden passing of their guardian, Brian, Runt and Wolf set about to learn the ways of the streets. There were several bad encounters, resulting in both mental and physical scars. Wolf soon became anxious about everything, hardly ever leaving his sisters side. One night when they were at the age of 9 moons, they were attacked by a cat while the two siblings slept. The kittens fled, their attacker chasing them off quite a ways away from their home. The kittens found a place to stay for the night, shielded by a piece of old scrap metal. Not long into the night they were woken up by a grey and white cat with a short tail. He stated that his name was Simon and that he meant no harm. Seeing as they were just kittens, Simon let them stay with him.
|Alley Cat|
Several months passed and the two siblings were now around the average apprentice age, and Simon was teaching them the ways of the streets. He taught them what to avoid and how, as well as where to search for food and what and what not to eat. Runt was instantly in love with learning. She was eager to learn new things, but her brother seemed to be the exact opposite. He wasn't all that talented with fighting, running, hunting, or basically anything that made an alley cat an alley cat. He wanted a simple life, he wanted twolegs and a family. Regardless, Simon still did his best to try and teach him. After months of spending time with the kittens, Simon began to realize how similar Runt and Wolf were very similar to Callie and himself, realizing that they must be his kittens. He decided it would be best not to tell them, seeing as he and Wolf weren't getting along very well at the time and he doubted that they would believe him. Simon continued to teach them, growing closer to Runt and farther from Wolf, who seemed to be distancing himself from everyone. One day, Wolf left in the middle of the night, deciding he should go it alone and find a family. Runt and Simon awoke the next morning to find him gone, Runt panicking. She set off to find him, Simon quickly following. After searching all day, they found his corpse. He'd been attacked by a dog, a large bite in his throat. Runt broke down in tears, throwing herself over her brother's body. Simon tried to pull her away, knowing that the dog would return, but she wouldn't budge. Not long after, the dog returned and attacked them. Luckily, Simon fought it off, but took a blow to the stomach, a large gash in his underbelly. Runt lie with him as he died. Using his last breaths Simon told Runt that he was her father, dying soon after. Runt, overcome with grief, ran out of the city, the blood of her brother and father spread across her fur.
|Loner|
Runt continued to run, tears flooding her eyes, obstructing her vision. She ran into something fluffy, her first instinct to attack. She tried to fight the mystery cat, giving up quickly, collapsing on the grass, tears streaming down her face. The two talked for a while, Runt begging the other to kill her. She blamed herself for the death of her brother and father, and she was unsure if she could live with that guilt. He refused to kill her and told her that he knew how she felt, and that her desire to give up and die was not what she should feel. He introduced himself as Marshal, and offered to stay with her for the night. In the morning, he suggested that she stay with him, even if for just a while. She agreed, desperate not to be alone. The two stuck together for several moons, Runt soon developing strong feelings for Marshal. She did her best to ignore and suppress these feelings, but she found it harder and harder to do as time passed.
One day while the two felines were hunting they were attacked by a hawk. While Marshal was able to fight off the fierce avian without too much damage, it was not the same for Runt. The feathered beast had scratched her across the neck, leaving two gashes where its talons had torn into her flesh. Marshal did his best to heal his friends wounds, but his medical knowledge was rudimentary. Due to this, the wound grew infected. Desperate to save his friend's life, Marshal asked the nearest clan, which happened to be PineClan, for help. Thankfully, they agreed. Once Runt was transported to the PineClan camp they began to help mend her wounds.
|Apprentice|
After a few days of healing, Marshal came to Runt with the idea of joining the clan. Feeling a need to repay them, Runt agreed. As soon as she was healed enough, Runt and Marshal came to the leader and asked to join as apprentices. Though hesitant at first, the leader allowed them to join.
Batpaw's apprenticeship was rather short. Her mentor, Seedwhisper, was a small cat with a quiet voice. Batpaw grew fond of Seedwhisper, who became a very close friend during her apprenticeship. Seedwhisper taught Batpaw the warrior code, as well as about StarClan, which Batpaw was relatively skeptical about. Nonetheless, she took in the information like a sponge, intrigued by all the things she didn't know. Seedwhisper taught her to fight and hunt more accurately, Batpaw eager to learn.
|Warrior|
After Batpaw and Dappledpaw completed their short apprenticeship, they took their silent vigil, sitting beside each other in the calm silence of the night. Not long after, Batgaze's mentor, Seedwhisper, passed away. According to the warriors that brought her body back, she had been bitten by a snake. She had been in good health, but that wouldn't stop the poison that coursed through her veins. Batgaze grieved for several moons, the pain of losing her family rushing back to her. After some encouragement from Dappledstorm, Batgaze slowly began to return to her old self, but she was easily upset if her past was brought up. Eventually, Batgaze was able to hide her grief deep below her usual cheerful demeanor.
(Apologies if the history is poorly written or anything! Batgaze is an old oc and I basically just took what I had for her history in her first app and edited things that needed fixing.)
