I've been working on this for AGES. The background took me sooooo long to finish. Heh, I used all my background inspiration on this piece, so I had none for the piece submitted just prior to this.I really want critique on this one. Please. Pretty please. With a whole ice cream sundae. And cookies.
Artist's comments: I don't like it, but I don't hate it, which i guess is a bit of an improvement. Bits of the background bother me, like the waterfall and the tree-ish looking things. The clouds suck; I can;t draw clouds to save my life. The girl is a bit outta proportion, but damn, I wish I had her body. Umm idk what else to say, it's way past my bedtime and I'm exhausted. Comments and crit pretty please.

Haha I wish I could... I'm not so good at this anime stuff, in fact, I rarely draw it anymore so I'm probably awful now And I wish I could like... make chocolate out of thin air. That'd be a useful skill to have.

aw i'm sure you could do this, it just takes loads of time, patience, and practice. and of course, tons of good music. i've been drawing since 7th or 8th grade and i'm now a high school senior (haha love that fact), so i have no doubts that if you keep drawing, you can be much better than me! i'm glad you like the pic ^__^.

mmkay. i use prismacolor pencils.
i start with the eyes. lay out basic color, add shadows with darker shades, highlights with white.
skin's next. i blend light peach and beige, then add shadows with peach and sometimes a brownish-pinkish color such as deep rose (or w/e it's called) and highlighs with white. a plastic eraser can also work for more highlights, but for skin i prefer the white pencil. then i blend the entire thing with a colorless blender.
same strategy for clothing: base color, shadows, highlights, blend.
hair: this has more prominent, jagged highlighs that i hafta make sure to block out beforehand cause i want them as white as possible. i use a lot of layers of colors in this, and usually don't use the colorless blender to make it look more rough and hair-like.
for backgrounds such as in this pic, i didn't use the blender cause i wanted it to be slightly realistic. so instead, i added the compliments to darken the original color and to make it seem more 3D.

wow, this is really nice! i like the coloring and the detail. the beach looks like the Destiny Islands from KH to me, but i really don't think you meant to illistrate it that way. nice job!

this is very nicely done very 'catchy attention' the girl is done very well and it is true that your background need more improvement ... my only advice for it observe more, imagine more.... if you dont know much about the details on somethings best you observe the actual first then imagine the rest!!!

This looks pretty good! You can really see that a lot of time and effort went into it.
Overall, the proportions on the girl are pretty good...perhaps a little tweaking might be needed. The foot looks a little bit off, but that's understanable considering the angle. After all, it's not often we draw the bottom of the foot.
As for the clouds, you might just want to define their outlines a little better, and give them some shadows to give them more of a fluffy, 3-D look.
But again, this overall, looks excellent...the torso and face of the girl especially came out PERFECT. Nice work!!

Damn, how do you do backgrounds like that? O.o Seriously, I think it's awesome! Teach me how you do such cool backgrounds with coloring crayons! T_T
