This is my first alternate history project! I was thinking about this scenario in the last days, and came up with the idea of creating it.
The PoD is in the seventies: the terrorist groups of the "Anni di Piombo" ("Years of Lead", a period of terrorist attacks, kidnappings and general political turmoil in Italy, lasted from the '60s to the '80s) are far more violent in their intentions and actions than in our timeline. The "leader" group is the Brigate Rosse, a communist terrorist organization. The social turmoil is more and more violent, expecially in the Emilia-Romagna region, the region with most communist supporters. It's February 1975. The majors of most of the cities of the region (all members of a communist party or communism supporters anyway ), along with most of the population, police and military (backed by "red terrorist" groups), take over the situation in a coup, establishing the People's Republic of Emilia-Romagna (Repubblica Popolare d'Emilia-Romagna), PREM, with capital in Bologna. Other major cities part of the new state are Parma, Ferrara, Forlì, Ravenna, Rimini, Modena, Piacenza and Reggiogrado (nickname of Reggio Emilia given by the communist supporters in our timeline). The map represents the maximum expansion of the territory controlled by the insurgents. The self-proclaimed republic survived for slightly more than a week, and got invaded by the Italian republic who returned to control the area.

NOTE: This is an alternate history scenario (so didn't actually happened) based on real history events happened in the Italy of the '60s, '70s and '80s. This doesn't represent my political views.
