Thankyou very much for the comment; it's an old Torana that has now disappeared from the owner's yard. Thanks for saying the critters are cute, too. Cheers.

Wow, that's great--taking a random object like a junked car and adding fantastical elements to it.... Very cool.

Gorgeous composition. It's wonderfully offbeat and unique. Great details and fine colors. Excellent creature designs. Their form and poses are quite appealing. Fabulous lighting as well.

Wow, thanks for the awesome comment! I'm very flattered. I was lucky enough that the initial photograph just needed a bit of cropping before I could use it as a reference.

At the moment, I work on my pictures from front to back (usually) and I don't really use washes anymore, just opaque paint. I thin all my paints with just a drop or two of water to make them flow a bit, but not so they're runny. I tend to work sort of like a "colour-by-numbers" in that I really try to keep it neat at all times so I don't obliterate the lines underneath. If I'm painting a sky or something, I just let it go a bit messy though.
I use a lot of black and white, and payne's grey and burnt/ raw umbers. This one turned out a bit better than my other works, because I used a photo reference. I use small brushes most of the time, a no. 7 for large areas, a no. 2, and 00 and 000 for tiny details.
I'm trying to think of what else I do. I place the middle tone down first, then put darks over it, and highlights last of all. I do a lot of wet-on-dry mixing, but I guess with acrylics there's not much time for wet-in-wet blending anyway.
I have no idea if any of this would be of any help to anyone, so I'm sorry if it's just a load of babbling, or acrylic 101-esque.
Oh, it's a Torana, and thankyou Caroline!

I'm totally digging that old junker. There's so much detail and it's wonderfully painted. The flat tire is my favorite part (although I'm not sure why, heh).

I love your short story. I did not expect you to be sensible both in words and colours.

That's awesome! The little creatures are so cute and curious looking and I absolutely love how worn and old the car looks. Definitely a lot of character in it! Wonderful work!

Fantastic rendering! The background looks so real with all the textures you've put into it, and the creatures fit right in. And as always, a wonderfully descriptive and entertaining explanation. ^^ I love that all your pictures have so much meaning behind them.
