Hi, I saw your piece on ProjectComment Β and wanted to comment on it.
First of all, I want to say this is Uber adorable! The chibi-esque style of the ponies are really charming and the way you color it gives me children illustration book vibes. Itβs a nice and unique style thatβs frankly waaaaay too cute for this world.
Even though I really like your piece I do have a few nitpicks. One of them pertains to eye coloring. It looks like you have a faint white around your pupils to show what is apart of the eye and personally I find it distracting and little off. I think it would improve your style if you either increase the white coloring of the eye or just simply leave it out. It works fine on rarity but itβs a little weird on twilight and pinkie. The eye thing is kind of subjective on my part though Β so take it as you will.
Another nitpick is the shading. Darker shades and highlights on rarity look great but they are a little too monotone and dull on twilight and pinky. Maybe try more vibrant colors to bring their pinks and purples out (Curious gives a good one with suggesting more bluish shades ?). Just try moving around your color wheel and experimenting on different hues for the shades and highlights that compliment your base colors essentially. You could definitely keep the painty way you shaded them though because the technique is definitely delightful to look at overall.
Thats all I really had to add but keep up drawing and experimenting with this style because itβs definitely super adorable and pleasant to look at.

Heya! Coming in from
Now this is something new! I mean you see chibies everywhere but this is something different! The proportions are nicely exaggerated and the characters look balanced yet beautifully stylized. I adore the cartoony style with a bit of a rougher take on the shading and colors. They look cute, but not typically sparkly like many mlp chibies often tend to.
The colors I think work fine and everything looks coherent. I think the hues of the shadows could use some refinement though. Rarity has a great palette, but Pinkie and Twilight could use a bit more accent colors to better emphasize shape. For example their shadows could be more bluish or they could have yellow highlights. Different colors on the shading of the whites of their eyes would also help the eyes pop out more.
The only other nitpick I have might be that they actually look a little like pigs instead of ponies β I guess itβs the shape of their ears and muzzle plus the chubby figures, mostly with Twilight β so I think her nose should be a bit rounder. Pinkie I think has the best pony-feel of these three.
I know this style is going to be developed further so I hope my tips were helpful.
They already look awesome!Β

Can be just a matter of perspective of the viewer :3 it's not too bad in my mind either
but I can't say I'm a pony expert anyway

Aw, they look cute! ^^
You know, I could really see this style in something animated. I think it would look really cool.
But it looks good as a still picture too, of course!
