I know this was last year, but yes, i do do trades I just got my computer back up and running. (It broke last year around that time.) If you're still interested, PM me what style and character you'd like, as well as any other preferences.

what tool and settings did you use for this?! also what blur? XD I'm really interestedΒ

In Paint tool Sai, I used the basic crayon tool to map out my colors and used the basic blur tool to spread out the colors where I wanted. Finally, I used the basic Pen tool to add the details to the wolf fur and extra little textures like the nose, eyes mouth ect. On the layer behind the wolf I used mostly crayon and kept blurring out the image to the only the hint of basic shapes in the background, and used watercolor for the snow droplets. I hope this answers your questions and helps
The normal blur settings I use are min size of 60% density of 92 sample circle, no texture, blending and dilution is at 100, persistence at 80, and smoothing prs at 100% (All of which I believe are what comes pre-loaded in when you first start Sai.)

Thanks so much! I'll be sure to test this out! ( I messed with my blue settings so this also helps with getting the basic blur back XD )

btw. I keep hearing about that sai program, is it easier to use for drawing than say photoshop? I always get lost in the brush-settings when trying to draw in photoshop which makes angry and quit the program.

Sai is well.. the brushes are more geared towards traditional artists, though its digital painting. Photoshop is similar as there are thousands of brush possibilities. Sai names thier brushes such as watercolor, pen tool, blur, eraser and others of the like. I use both. What i do mainly in sai is paint out the picture and use the different layers, then save it in photoshop format so it transfers my layers over. In photoshop I use it to make special effects such as the lighting and other renders it has that Sai does not. I use Photoshop for text as well. It didnt take me as long to figure out Sai as it did for me to learn photoshop, but photoshop i learned is great for 3dsmax. If you do learn how to paint in photoshop, you can transfer those files into Max mainly for the textures, like if you had a rock, but then again you could always find a photograph as well, so theres many options really.

thanks for the comparison, I'll have a look at sai then as I want to improve my 2d concept art skills a bit. I know how to work with photoshop in regards of texturing / photo-editing.. what I usually get problems with is when I got an idea to draw something I have to setup all the brushes.. which gets me annoyed quite quickly.

well with photoshop and sai brushes i start with the (pen tool in Sai) and the (hard small brush for photoshop) to start off with a sketch. I add another layer for coloring with a soft airbrush tool since it covers a wider area. The soft Airbrush tool allows me to make the organic things like animals and hair feel a bit more real. I add shading and highlights on yet another layer with various sizes of the airbrush tool by pressing the Shift - and Shift + button combos. in the end of the piece i use the pen tool again in Sai or the small hard brush in photoshop for the finer details, then its effects and backgrounds.
