Pre-war model, judging by its lack of camouflage paint and Army Air Force markings. Still a beautiful aircraft; always my favorite.

Yep. I photographed this flying example here in Southern California, but used mostly a friend's photo for this, and it is now based in England.

Thank you, Daniel...you have lots and lots of useful images...I have one more in the works now, something called a P-51 Mustang, some kind of airplane nobody remembers anymore, ha.

That's pretty funny. I remember twenty years ago that I would never do another Mustang...since then, done maybe a dozen or more...they continue to have the best chance of selling.

beautifully done Doug.. The Collings Foundation where I just did the B24 ride last week will be coming next year and offering rides in a P40 in addition to their mustang.. gonna be hard to talk myself out of spending that money to do it
