The objective was to draw at least one Commando Massacre universe character of choice from any in the current roster .
There was an extension to the deadline, so I decided to reserve some time to make a second entry. Since I dig her outfit, I chose to base this piece on Valerie Fox , the Blue Arrow. Seems like bow and arrows are popular among ninja, heheh.
Trying to practice more with action poses, dynamic angles, and extreme perspective. I definitely screwed up in a few areas, especially with some technical details, but I'll keep at it.
Valerie's supposed to be split-standing on something (supposedly two bamboo stalks), and springing a trap from above--even though the perspective says otherwise (like she's on the ground aiming down a well or something)... Man, those are some pretty tall trees... Hey, she's a ninja, that's all you need to know!

the perspective of the background confuses me. Because all the bamboo is pointing upwards as if we should be looking directly above us, does that mean we're lying down and she's standing above us, or she's flying down at us? If she's standing above us it feels like the angle of her body is wrong... Her legs are stretched out like she's doing the splits in mid air, and she's bending over at about 90 degrees which is.... well, possible, but hard. xD Don't get me wrong... it's a wonderful piece, just kind of hard to understand what's happening.

Yea, supposedly the viewer is looking straight up. I was going more for a look where the viewer is walking through a bamboo forest and is caught by surprise, looking up to find a ninja with her arrow ready to strike. My intention was to have her split, balancing between two stalks of bamboo which are out of view, but the way I drew the surrounding bamboo, it appears as if the viewer is on the floor, or those trees are pretty tall, heheh. And yes, the bend in her body is really awkward--though I only noticed these things after I was close to completion. Ah, I'd probably do better if I had worked off of some reference material.
Hopefully I'll have better luck next time, heheh. Thanks for pointing those problems out to me.

Ah yes if that's the case it makes more sense... Also the fact that the bamboo looks so far away kind of gives the impression that the viewer is in a clearing which makes her pose awkward ^_^ I'm glad I could help though, it's a very interesting piece and concept.
