This is another fabulous cardinal shot!! Do you shoot with a tripod for your 400+ m lens? You must have a perfect perch, so to speak, set up to capture these birds so well! Bravo!!

Thank you! No, all of my bird photos were taken hand-held. I use an Olympus E-5 (this one was with my older E-510) and either a 50-200mm or 70-300mm lens with a 1.4x tele-converter. And I make sure my image stabilization is ON! Also most of these were taken in my yard while I'm sitting on my porch.

Ahhh, the converter...I had visions of you with a 400mm lens...I, too sit on my porch with my Canon5D MarkII and 70-200 L/IS lens and capture mostly goldfinches, purple or house finches, and a lot of sparrows, with the occasional western blue jay (no crest on the head, but very cool "eyebrows" in white) at my feeders. The goldfinches are such a treat for me as we don't get many colorful birds here in SoCal. I suppose I should post some of those pics.... seems my people pix take up too much of my time.
