Description
The tree was exactly as the myth described it; old and twisted, the gnarled roots and branches provided handholds as he scrambled up the trunk, bare feet digging into the tough bark. It scratched at Andrew’s feet as he went, making him wince, but he continued towards the goal.

There were fairies in the hollow. He was certain of it. He’d been watching them flitting in and out ever since he was a child, whenever the adults weren’t around. He’d never betrayed them, even when he got blamed for the lost items they’d stolen and the keys they’d hidden. Not once. Today they were going to pay him back, for that; today he was going to make a wish.

He just wasn’t sure what to wish for.

His foot faltered for a moment at the thought, then dug firmly in as he continued climbing. He could decide that when he reached them; they’d give him what he needed. Some way to be with his girlfriend, preferably; some way to stop his life from falling to pieces; some way to know what to give Millie in order to express her feelings and make everything better; something.

The buzzing of wings shoved morose thoughts out his head, and he picked up the pace. He felt his heart beating as he reached the hollow, eyes slowly emerging above its tip. They were actually there. He’d never actually come close enough to see, properly, but they were actually there. Darting little fairies with sparkling wings, zooming around a tiny little city built in his back yard.

One darted in front of him when he opened his mouth to speak, then sped into his mouth before he had a chance to say anything. He felt it caught inside of his throat, the little wings wiggling up and down as something began to coat them; it made his throat itch, but he was too afraid to cough or swallow.

The wings folded up inside of him, something working its way down his throat. He did cough, then, something stabbing into his throat as it continued to move down, causing the flesh to constrict.

He felt warm. Freeing a hand to place against his forehead, he felt the hair cascading around it; it seemed to have a tiny bit of sparkle to it, even; he was clearly seeing things. He felt woozy, too, though that might have been from eating a farie; he hoped it was a fairy, and that he hadn’t just hallucinated it. His body seemed to be squeezing inwards, another symptom.

His stomach squeezed inwards, muscles spasming; they gripped tighter against the wood for a moment, then released, his legs kicking out as he felt his body ground down. The world seemed to grow bigger, the ground dwindling further and further away. His sides were on fire, the bones restructuring as it moved inwards; or seemed to. He was obviously hallucinating.

Andrew was still “hallucinating” when his hips pushed out, his groin splitting with the shifting flesh as something fleshy slid inside. His hair was already down to his bottom, shrinking slower than the rest of him, and seeming to actively grow at the end.

He could feel the bottom beneath it pushing out, soft flesh building beneath his nipples at the same time. The flesh budded outwards between one breath and the next pushing itself out as something inside him gurgled. The organs shifting, and the fairy inside of him moving, he thought, though it didn’t seem to matter; he was going to die. He was going to die thinking that he’d been turned into a tiny woman.

His back pulsated at that thought, something pushing out of him. The fairy from earlier, his flesh now ripping out of Andrew’s, his hands trailing behind. Andrew felt something unfold, wings splitting apart behind his back. They wavered uncertainly for a moment, and then caught the air, holding him up.

“I’m… a fairy?” he offered uncertainly, after a moment.

“Pixie.” The diminutive creature shook itself, freeing itself of dust. “We’re low on workers and women at the moment; I figured the second category was more important for the moment.”

The new girl nodded uncertainly, thinking about her girlfriend. A moment later a smile split across her face, after a moment, as “Andrea” lifted a few centimeters up into the air. “I think I know where we can find another one, too…”

Hurrah! My picture!

...I didn't think it would actually look GOOD when I colored it. I was just messing around. I mean, I tried with the picture itself - honest! - but I didn't think that COLORING it would make it look... well... Better! That was sheer experimentation. *Nods*

Usually, I'm trying not to try. My first comic will be up in a couple days, and you'll see what I mean - it'll sorta suck by comparison. This took me two days, though, and I'm trying to get better through doing more pictures and getting more practice. (However, I WOULD like to try more in the next comic I do. Just 'cause I LIKE it when it looks good... but i can't afford to obsess about making it that way, either. Particularly with college starting up again on the ninth.

Also, if anyone asks, she's wearing tights! it's not cause i lost the color i was working on and mangastudio debut has no eyedropper! Honest!)

This is for by the way. And i used The Complete Idiot Guide's to drawing Manga Shojo Illustrated for references! Mostly the beauty. )
