Mega Golem only explodes when it faints, meaning after it's done its job, it still gets the last laugh even when your opponent knocks it out.

It just really seems like an odd mega. An odd ability, with an even more odd typing. I mean, Golem doesn't exactly get much good Fire-type STAB.

It suits Golem in my opinion. Since RBY era it's been a notorious bomb Pokemon, and of the few (for a lack of a better word) elemental type skills it gets, Fire is fairly prevalent. Furthermore, nothing would really stop it from gaining skills like, Flame Charge, or Flare Blitz if it was hypothetically created. Take Mega Blastoise for example, if you were told it was going to have Mega Launcher before it's release, it would seem ridiculous because it could only use it for water pulse. But lo and behold! It was given Dark Pulse, Aura Sphere and Dragon Pulse to give it's ability some value.
