It is great that you are introducing your daughter to Power Pack, and the original one, at that, which I like better than the current All-Ages version (which is good, but too much "done just for kids", which the original version wasn't).

thanks!
yeah, when i first saw the 'reboot' i didn't like it at all. i've come around to it, but it isn't the same. however, its better than their 'movie' from the 80's by a LOOOOONG shot.
though i find that i wanted to lend out my first graphic novel of the original, to a child a few years older than kat and realized i couldnt - since there are cursewords there. i can work with kat about them but i just can't give it to someone elses child *sigh* how can i spread the love???? lol

Same here. They are cool and cute, but dumbed down. No Morlocks will be harmed for this new version.
Sometimes I think people get too worked up about some words (I think that is not your case, since you are willing to let your kid know they exist and should not be used). If the context shows they are used by "bad" people and they are presented as not being "cool", kids can be exposed to them and learn they are not good. We should give them more credit than we do.
Of course, you cannot impose anything on someone else's kids. Why not show it to the parents and tell them about your concerns? They might find it okay to give it to him.
Besides, the same parents who are too easily frightened by content are the ones who end up buying mature video games for their kids without looking.

That's too bad... Perhaps in a few more years when the kid (or the parent) has grown up some?
The new Power Pack is for kids with parents like those. Otherwise, they would not be able to read PP stories at all...

maybe
i'm also thinking that maybe i should just lend the book to the parent herself first, she's the kind of parent i think would let her kid read it if she understood it better.

That should work. If all she knows is that this book has some swearing, however mild, she does not have a lot of info on which to base her decision.
You may even make another fan out of her.

Hi, O'Shea-san.
I just finished a Jack Power picture I thought it might interest you and your daughter (how go the reading Power Pack lessons?).
I know Jack is not her favorite, but I hope she likes it.

I didn't know it had been scheduled. It's been ages since I checked a "Previews" catalogue, so now I rely on Amazon, and they only have Classic 1 through 3. I hope it is just moved to other date. I am currently re-reading the first two classic volumes. My single issue collection has too many missing spots so I hope to someday own the entire series on TPBs.
At least she has read the third TPB, so she knows about the Power switch (else, I would have spoiled it with the Counterweight pic). I am glad she liked it.

amazon was, i believe, where i got the original scheduled date...i was constantly checking on it until i found a date, then i marked my calender with it. now its unavailable. and i have no idea how the comic store guy was able to check that it was cancelled because when i went to the marvel site, i couldn't find any way to search for it.
i had to collect the series twice - i had ALL the issues up until the end, where it got spotty because my dad (my comic book hook up) got sick. when he got sick, my entire original collection went bye bye, because he lost his apartment and everything inside it. (i lived with my mom)
years later, when i started college, my friends helped me re-collect the issues. it took me YEARS and i still never got my hands on the one where Alex 'becomes' a kymellian. (i read someone else s copy) but i THINK I've got them all (they're in storage though, i find it just easier to work with the graphic novels)
yup yup - no spoilers there! we've read all three, plus the new version power pack book "the kids are all right" we were both VERY disapointed this weekend because we'd have been able to see all the new power stuff...
i DID just order a hardcover Inferno collection - its regularly 75 dollars and amazon has it marked down ALOT right now! so i decided to snag it. she'll be able to see a little bit with that at least.

You'll see you will be able to get it a third time. The Classic line has to be completed, even if they do it slowly...
I think I do have the horse Alex issues. Unlike earlier (and better) issues, which I had to buy in Canada, the final issuse of the series I got (used) in Mexico. I think it is not exactly "mint" condition, or I would offer to give it to you so you have a complete set. As it is, you have a better chance to find it mint in some 1 dollar bin.

hehe, thats okay. i'm sure i'll find one eventually...
and i hope you're right! i tried asking on the marvel forums what happened. the only answer i got was from some random person telling me that if i want a say on what gets published, i need to join a reading group.
which isn't an answer on one that had already had a release date. nor does it tell me when where or how...(i tried to ask too, but the site wouldn't let me comment back for some reason)

I hope that is only a sign of bad communication between departments and bad customer service. If Marvel published both Classic volumes of The Champions (which I love, but I can see why some people would not), then they defnitely can continue printing the rest of Power Pack.
