Description Sealodds.
Also called 'sea lords'. These primeval cephalopodous creatures can grow to monstrous sizes and are spoken of in hushed voices by seafarers. The huge ones are rare and found only in open, deep ocean waters but when a ship is lost at sea it is often feared that one of these beasts is to blame. Sealodds are highly intelligent and are unforgiving of those who cross them. It is said the sea-dwelling elver people have a pact with them for they serve the same dark gods and worship in the same sunken temples.

... in short, more bestiary work for the Daemonslayers' world.

I wanted it to be cephelapodous, but a bit more unusual at the same time.

Thank you! The sketch by itself looked quite plain, it's amazing the difference dropping some textures into the background can make!

I love it! the design for sea monsters is usually like lizards and octopi, so it's always nice when someone comes up with something new.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

drakhenliche In reply to Gwan-Thewi [2010-03-22 09:23:42 +0000 UTC]

Thank you! That's what I was thinking too, so I wanted these creatures to be a bit different, though I did keep some octopus-like features mostly because I think octopi are kinda awesome

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

drakhenliche In reply to C-k [2010-02-22 09:13:40 +0000 UTC]

I got the paper texture (off an ImagineFX resource dvd, I think) and dropped it in as a layer under my pencils in Photoshop.

Thanks! This was great fun to create. The original drawing's on plain white paper but the texture I added in Photoshop really gave it a new dimension.
