Drangelu In reply to ??? [2014-07-30 03:24:02 +0000 UTC]

This is XD

Yes, a baby rattlesnake. Well were camping and found it on our way, we grab it, took the pic and left it. It was adorable.

Yeah, it was a bit hard to tell at first glance but upon further inspection (and a helpful comment left by someone else) I noticed there was a little rattle on it (unless they develop them when they're older, I may have been looking too hard into it), and the resemblance is definitely there.

Hmm, nice story. I'm curious though, was the little snake by itself?

You truly do love all animals, even ones like this tiny rattlesnake (even though it's larger relatives are perfectly capable killing machines, though nowadays they aren't as dangerous as they used to thanks to modern medicine.)

Drangelu In reply to A-Fox-Of-Fiction [2014-07-30 03:49:14 +0000 UTC]

Hmm, we found it alone, I'm sure it's mother was not very far, because it was very little. But we didn't find her (we don't search her either for obvious reasons). We put the little one back were we found it, after the pic was teaken. We were not bitten, we just respect them and they did the same with us, we don't need to kill each other as salvages.

Well yeah I do love each and every animal, does not matter if its "ugly", poisonous, "dangerous", cute or wathever. They are all so very awesome and unique.

A-Fox-Of-Fiction In reply to Drangelu [2014-07-30 14:14:22 +0000 UTC]

Good call, I figured that a snake this small wouldn't be by himself, glad to hear nobody got bit ( I justhope momma rattlesnake didn't mind your scent being on the little feller.)

Yeah, be it the hidious stonefish or the black mamba you still love them, right? And it's good you have the sense to be careful around the dangerous ones.

Drangelu In reply to A-Fox-Of-Fiction [2014-07-31 05:42:12 +0000 UTC]

No, they have a different motherly behaviour. The mother can't watch over all her little ones, there are too many.

Yes , and yes.

A-Fox-Of-Fiction In reply to Drangelu [2014-07-31 14:03:48 +0000 UTC]

Ah, so they aren'tlike rabbits ( then again that was obvious, given that they're snakes), how many eggs do rattlers tend to lay anyways?

Drangelu In reply to A-Fox-Of-Fiction [2014-08-01 03:17:11 +0000 UTC]

Hehehehe yes XD

Honestly I don't remember, but if you like I can check on my notes and I'll tell you

Heh, thanks. Let me know what your notes tell you.

Drangelu In reply to A-Fox-Of-Fiction [2014-08-15 23:50:27 +0000 UTC]

Well they don't lay eggs for that matter... they have a sack in which the keep the eggs, then the babies born from the mother... short explained.

The have from 12 to 20 little rattlesnakes

A-Fox-Of-Fiction In reply to Drangelu [2014-08-16 04:17:19 +0000 UTC]

Whoa! So the Land Shark DOES exist!...Do the babies fight inside the mother?

A-Fox-Of-Fiction In reply to Drangelu [2014-08-16 12:52:53 +0000 UTC]

Yep, definitely better natured than baby sharks. I wonder if you can train a rattlesnake...

Drangelu In reply to A-Fox-Of-Fiction [2014-08-16 18:25:33 +0000 UTC]

Don't know if someone has tried it, but I'm sure it is possible

A-Fox-Of-Fiction In reply to Drangelu [2014-08-16 20:03:37 +0000 UTC]

I heard of some guys who believe sharks can be domesticated, you hear of that?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Drangelu In reply to A-Fox-Of-Fiction [2014-08-17 02:50:45 +0000 UTC]

No, but I don't like the word "domesticated"

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

A-Fox-Of-Fiction In reply to Drangelu [2014-08-17 03:05:05 +0000 UTC]

You don't?...I take it this is due to how it's associated with man and how it tends to control animals?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Drangelu In reply to A-Fox-Of-Fiction [2014-08-17 03:23:39 +0000 UTC]

Yes

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

A-Fox-Of-Fiction In reply to Drangelu [2014-08-17 03:27:41 +0000 UTC]

Huh, well would train be preferable to you?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Drangelu In reply to A-Fox-Of-Fiction [2014-08-17 03:35:29 +0000 UTC]

Not completely, but preferably.

That way you teach them, don't control them.
Both learn from each other

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

A-Fox-Of-Fiction In reply to Drangelu [2014-08-17 03:45:54 +0000 UTC]

True, for a pet I'd want to train it but not so it was perfectly obedient, control isn't really what I want, I'd like it to obey orders if given mind you, but that's more like the animal understanding what I mean in my opinion (the only thing our dogs really only understand is being told to come and sit, almost nothing else besides) so basically I'd prefer to teach it to understand what I mean, know what I'm saying?

Also, what do you think of the news that sharks might be able to be taught (according to the report I saw, maybe a bit like dogs...imagine that, that would make sharks more benevolent wolves of the sea.)

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Drangelu In reply to A-Fox-Of-Fiction [2014-08-17 03:53:05 +0000 UTC]

Hehe
I get it

I think sharks were always able to be taught, but humankind was... young and scared to figure this out.

Hehehe I already think they are benevolent

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

A-Fox-Of-Fiction In reply to Drangelu [2014-08-17 04:31:10 +0000 UTC]

Groovy. Good to know that, from now on I won't mention domestication in our communications as it makes you uncomfortable.

They certainly would, if I saw a very large fish with very sharp teeth swimming towards me, I wouldn’t assume it wanted to play fetch with a car bumper. It’d be cautious as nobody could have known this until they were able to study them. I believe they always could have been taught, but until science’s forefather (Natural Philosophy) came about, I don’t think anyone could even comprehend the idea of studying the creatures.

They are (from what I also heard, dolphins can tend to be surprisingly devious), the image they got from Jaws (actually a pretty good film, but they portrayed sharks in a ridiculously negative sense, in fact a lot of the shark hunting that’s gone on in recent days is a result of that movie, something the writer of the novel it was based on felt horrified about when this was discovered)  certainly didn’t help, the odds of an attack are unlikely (though just to be safe I’d be cautious around one if I met it, just in case he’s hungry or one of the ones that prefers humans with a side of calamari) so there’s probably a reason for that, I take it that’s why you already believed that sharks are benevolent?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Drangelu In reply to A-Fox-Of-Fiction [2014-08-17 04:40:12 +0000 UTC]

Yeah, most of the creatures around are wrongly perceived. Because of some misinterpretation about their behaviour.

Sure we all have to be careful, but that does not mean every living being is going to attack us.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

A-Fox-Of-Fiction In reply to Drangelu [2014-08-17 23:52:09 +0000 UTC]

Most of them? Yeah that sounds about right, people tend to exaggerate certain things about the beasts of the land, sea, and air…and leave out certain other things about them, this can not only result in poor luck for the animals, but the humans who can’t tell the difference either.

Indeed, not everything wants to kill us but it would be wise to be cautious around the more dangerous (or potentially dangerous) animals, just to make sure I don’t set it off by accident. I’m not too scared of sharks, bears, or even wolves, but I wouldn’t be believing any of those animals would try to kill me as soon as they saw me. Bears (black bears at least) would more likely leave me alone if I let them be, sharks probably wouldn’t bite unless I was provoking them or maybe if I was just bleeding (and no fishies were nearby), wolves though I’d be more careful around, but no need to be incredibly paranoid about them either. I take it you’re rather careful around dangerous animals when you find them? You ever seen a shark before?

Drangelu In reply to A-Fox-Of-Fiction [2014-08-18 03:02:19 +0000 UTC]

Yeah, whern working at the safari I had some "dangerous" experiences

And yes a sharkcat... this guy  static.panoramio.com/photos/la…

I'd love to see a whale shark

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

A-Fox-Of-Fiction In reply to Drangelu [2014-08-18 03:54:54 +0000 UTC]

Wow, but then again it’s a safari and some dangerous beasts generally tend to be kept in there so it’s not that surprising. Could you tell me about some of these stories in one of the Note Threads?

Hmm, nice look, he seems a bit small…when’d you see him?

Whale Sharks look pretty cool, it’s amazing that despite their gargantuan size they only eat plankton. Where do you generally find them in the ocean anyways (aside from in it that is.)

Thanks

I see. And this sharkie was one of the creatures there? Did it have octopi as well?

What I mean is, what part of the ocean do they tend to live at?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Drangelu In reply to A-Fox-Of-Fiction [2014-08-18 05:21:27 +0000 UTC]

Yes, there were 4 if I'm not mistaken.

No they haven't

Aaah, well I know they visit Cancun, all the peninsula actually, here in Mexico. That means Atlantic Ocean

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

A-Fox-Of-Fiction In reply to Drangelu [2014-08-18 20:41:52 +0000 UTC]

Four catsharks…were they a family?

Ah, well that’s both a good and bad thing, bad because I know you’d have loved to have seen the octopus (I myself would like to see one too, they’ve got more skills than Doc Savage: Man of Bronze), but it’s good for the sharks…did you know there was this one aquarium where an octopus was going around killing the sharks in it like some kinda serial killer?

Really?! So basically the whale sharks tend to congregate in the seas near Mexico? How far from land do they tend to go?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Drangelu In reply to A-Fox-Of-Fiction [2014-08-19 03:04:32 +0000 UTC]

Yes, they were.

WOW really?, Didn't know that

Yep. Not sure, a teacher once told me he and his family swam with them. It's like a tourist activity (one I'm sure I'll do myself)
I found this  scubadiverlife.com/2011/07/07/…

Guessed as much. Was it like a father and mother shark with two pups?

Yeah, it was pretty weird to hear about. Maybe the octopus saw Jaws and thought "Time to make myself king of the mountain!" Wanna see the video where I heard about this?

Really? Well that's rather convenient, when do you hope to try it out?
