Description Heehee, Cindy Loo plays dead!!

My friend Morgan raised Cindys litter, that little masky girl is likely staying here heehee Cindy is fine, but sleeping like THAT, not even in the hammock!

I've had days like that with my daughter... I'll sleep anywhere, any place, anyhow... as long as kiddo will leave me alone!! heehee

I snapped 3 pics, and Cindy didn't wake up 'til I opened the cage... then she had the "Oh just you!" look, and curled up asleep as I cuddled the kidlets!

*Random side note*
Her belly is NOT dirty... she's an agouti downunder, and with her light, creamy DU marking THAT is all that's left of her DU mark! For that reason, her nickname is "dirty girl" since it looks like she doesn't wash her belly!! haha (Since there is defined white, and then YELLOW where her belly mark is)

Yes, I'm weird, and have weird names for my rats!

Thank you! We actually haven't owned any ratties in over 2 years, as my husband developed severe allergies. I've not been around them much since my last old girlies passed on, since it breaks my heart since I miss them so much! But of course, Hubby's health matters more, and I still have the dogs, and a cat!

Aww no, I think It drives me mad not to have ratties around. I understand though. Alergies suck. ><
At least dogs and kitties are also wonderful being to get to know too.

Man, Dumbos are so cute. When and if I get a rat I would love to have a Dumbo ^^

DreamEyce In reply to Dakota-Spirit [2007-08-11 22:53:22 +0000 UTC]

Yes they are! And if you don't want to get kiddos from a breeder, there is OFTEN rescue dumbos, since the Dumbo gene STARTED here in the NW. A lot of feeders, and petstore rats are dumbo, meaning that a lot of the kiddos turned into rescues, and shelters are dumbo!

My boy Webbers (On my website) was from a local hoarding case. Lady got petstore rats, and let them roam loose in her house, and breed at random! Most her rats were dumbo!

Oh really? I didn't know that. Well I would defiantly prefer either breeder or rescue rats. Just by looking through your website (which is lovely by the way, I hadn't thought to see if you had one) the rats seem so much better looking, you can just see that they are healthier.

Wow...that's almost worse then dog/cat hoarding cases. Who is their right mind lets a bunch of rats run around breeding in your house? Poor little guys, there are so many injuries they could have encountered while running free.

These dumbos are at a rescue in BC (Transport often available to assorted parts of WA [link]

Sooooo CUTE!

Even worse about the weird butt rat hourder, was she was in an old mobile home in the woods with HOLES in her floors, leading outside... meaning rats would climb/fall out and she'd either loose them, or have to trap them to bring them inside!!

Sooooo weird. They were well fed, but there was too many, and NOT socialized at all

Dakota-Spirit In reply to DreamEyce [2007-08-12 05:36:00 +0000 UTC]

Ooooh , babies! What little cuties

Gah, that is just so weird. I mean really, who does that? Thats really sad though, we they able to save most of the rats?

Also I just learned today that ratties could come without tails. I had no idea that was even possible.

DreamEyce In reply to Dakota-Spirit [2007-08-12 05:40:38 +0000 UTC]

I've had some tailless rats, but they are pretty rare, and hard to come by. Generally when breeders get them in litters, they keep them. It's much like the tailless (bob tail) gene in dogs and cats, where it can act like a dominant, or a recessive at any given time! heehee I have a lot of pics of the differnt types of ratties on my 'rat info' pages. I'm still adding pics, and new pics though.

We were able to get the kiddos out, in 3 batches from the hourder! When I went there the 1st time, I didn't know it was SOOOO bad, so I only went with a few carriers. We had the rest out within 2 weeks though. She didn't even KNOW how many she HAD!! I had to wait for the 3rd trip, as she refused to let them ALL go, so we had to talk her out of them. So scary!

*sobs*

-nods- Thats where I found out about them. I'm not the biggest fan of rat tails but I don't know that I like them missing either

Heh, I've seen that a few times with cats. You could just move a piece of furniture and cats would boil out from underneath.

DreamEyce In reply to Dakota-Spirit [2007-08-16 07:20:25 +0000 UTC]

Yea, tailless ratties are cute, but there is something I love about nice round rattie tails, esp as they wrap around your arm! When a rat walks acrossed a rope or something they swing their tail around as balance. Really stunning to watch, as a dog movement fan!

I have tailless in my lines, but when I get them in litters I generally send them home with my breeder friend Marianne, who specializes in them

-nods- I'm not even a fan of the rat tails and I prefer them with rather then tail-less. I bet that is cool I don't get cause to see a lot of Ratties but I would like to someday.

Very cool ^^

There is the big show in Seattle next month, I believe on the 3rd? It's a pet show, but I'll be there selling some of my artwork I didn't remember to enter intime to bring ratties, but I'm picking up a couple girls from a local breeder.

OMGGGGG my rat Jason always does that hehehe... but he sleeps that way and the rest pack on top of him sometimes.. hehehe i also call him my gay rat, he never is interested in girls, only men he likes to violate. or maybe he is confused... mmm nope, if there can be gay people, then certainly there can be gay ratts.

There is such things as gay rats!! heehee It's been proven in laboratories, and they were even able to produce "gay" rats through hormone treatments of the mother too, or something along those lines

My jumbo rat, Zodiac, sleeps on his back, too. Gosh, they're light sleepers. If I even move, their beady little cute eyes pop open.
