Description This is an early 1900's inspired city. The bike design is also influenced from the period and you may recognize the character from one of my older drawings.

The picture is 1/4 of the original size and it took me some time to paint, but I've learnt a lot from doing this.

as I read the comments most of the relevant things have been said several times now . The wonderful use of perspective . the wonderful lighting , the wonderfully evocative city scape you have created is great . I am impressed with the design of the motorcycle you developed for this and the riding outfit with matching leathers and gloves . Just this part would stand alone as a wonderful image and a great vision of design .

It's great to compare this to 'City' .

How do you paint the lines so straight? I have trouble while digitally painting when trying to do perfect lines and such. (I've been using a wacom tablet)

I try do as much as I can freehand, but there are lots of methods I use if I need a really sharp line. If you want to draw horizontal and vertical lines simply hold down the shift button while using the brush tool. To draw a staight line from one point to another just make a mark with the brush tool where you want the line to begin on the canvas and then while holding down shift make another mark where you want the line to end.

Btw these methods are for photoshop. I hope it makes sense, let me know if it doesn't.

Thank you so much, it makes perfect sense. I knew about the holding down shift for vertical and horizontal lines, but I did not know about the point to point line feature. I find starting out a picture is hard without the proper straight lines if you know what I mean. Thanks for the tip, and I really like "City at Night."

A really moody image, extremely well done.
But I do have to pick on one thing. I know it's 'artistic license', but your character isn't wearing any protection. No helmet, no jacket, is a no no for bike riders. But she does have protection on her knees! Hmmm...
(And her hair would get really thrashed!)
You put so much thought into everything else, but a motorcycle rider (like me) would pick up on that detail pretty quick.
I respectfully suggest a stylish half helmet, color coordinated to match her bike and outfit, that way we can still see her pretty face, and most definitely a riding jacket. (Bare skin tends to come off pretty easily when it's dragged over pavement!! Safetyfirst!!)
Otherwise, pretty spectacular piece! Good show!

It's is interesting that you mention the helmet because I had planned to make it look more like one, but I got carried away with the fur like material around the edge and it ended up becoming a hat.
I have to admit, not being a rider myself, covering the upper body for protection didn't really cross my mind. That being said it was important for the design of the character and the overall image to break up the leather with areas of bare flesh.
Thank you for your comments they have really made me think and I will certainly keep them in mind if I design another motorcycle rider.

After posting, I looked at your other work and found the sketches you had done of female biker hat wear. One of them is reminiscent of WWII bomber headgear, and I thought that'd be the perfect style, and it even includes goggles. A friend that was a biker actually had one of those! It was fur lined and had hardened leather ear 'cups', and a chinstrap. (Eye protection is a must! I remember driving through a cloud of moths once, I hit so many I had to stop and clean my visor because I couldn't see! Good thing I had a visor...)

Love the correspondence! Rock on!

I imagine those moths left quite a mess, knowing how easy their wings fall apart.
Hey and I'm always happy to talk about my work, so again thanks for your comments.

There is SO much detail in this picture! !_! It's positively STUNNING. What do you DO for a living? I can understand why this took "some time", it would have taken my years and years! I can't even imagine. The reflections, the light sources, the shadows, the perspective, everything looks absolutely immaculate. It's really just overwhelming at a glance. I could stare for hours and not find all the details, I'm certain of that much. This is incredible.
