*sigh* Sad, but true. At least we still have the classics to adore!

you know they orginally wanted Carty Grant for the Part of Linus but he backed out at the last moment. think how wonderful it would have been if Cary had taken the part.

I know the feeling. I *had* to watch it because my grandmother loves Harrison Ford.
I'm going to shift through the rest of your gallery if you have more old movie stuff. I was raised on black and white films and movies and I love them so!
I be major Marx Brothers fan.

They are. They're not romantic, just nutty as hell. And you've gotta watch the right ones too, can't start with the wrong ones lol. Make sure you see "A Night at the Opera" and a "Day at the Races" first. Those are the best.

This is one of my all time favorite movies. I've worn my copy out with too much watching. And Humphrey Bogart in this...swoon. Way better than Holden. So glad you added these two to your CC.
Don't forget to add Gene, Fred and Frank to that list--but you DO have excellent taste.

Sad, but true. <:^( Back then filmmakers had to depend on well-written scripts, instead of just special effects.

Well-captured, milady, especially in their expressive eyes. This would probably have been after the events of the movie proper, but ... I always wanted to see how things would be after a movie like this had closed its window into their lives {g}
As for men not being "like they used to"? Well, Harrison Ford ain't no slouch in the remake. But he and Julia Ormond just didn't have quite the same magic, even though the plot was nearly the same.
Bogie replaced Cary Grant late in the casting process. I adore both of their work, but Grant was not quite earnest enough to be the businessman conquered by unexpected love. Unconventional lover, but Bogie ended up fitting.
And the wry magnificence that was Billy Wilder's filmmaking ... ah, don't get me started!

My main problem with the new one is that they took out all the great dialogue from the original. It was no longer the heartfelt comedy the original was.

There are still some people out there who know of it! ^,^ I'm glad to know that you know it, too. <:^) It's such a great movie.

Yay, one of my favorites!
You forgot to mention the costumes by Givenchy. I love that first evening gown we see her in.
