Description The Iron Giant is a freaking fantastic movie. If you haven't seen it, do it now. A boy and his robot. Amazing.
One of Brad Bird's best, really. I even like it better than The Incredibles. And I adore The Incredibles, so that's really saying something.

Something I really appreciate about The Iron Giant is that it takes place in the 50s. It's an interesting angle. Also because of that Hogarth gets an awesome 50s jacket.

The basic design is still perfectly modern, though I bet the quality is far higher then "Made In China" for the most part.

Great picture! Β And I agree. Β It is a fantastic movie. Β Just recently watched it again, actually. Β Hogarth is they perfectly portrayed average boy. Β I mean there are so many movies that have young boys sickeningly sweet with these annoyingly fakey voices that say things ten-year-old boys would never dream of saying. Β But Hogarth is fantastic. Β The way he talks and the things he says 'I got some metal for ya!' is just something a kid would say. Β And you've done a fantastic job of drawing him. Β Β

So was the Iron Giant an extraterrestrial machine or it was something else. I remember their was a deleted scene tat tells about wat was the purpose of them & it was really grimm.

Yes, he was.


He was one of a fleet of giant death machines that would the evil alien empire conquer entire planets.


Since they saw Earth as a primitive, backwards planet, they reasoned that sending out just one "iron giant" would be enough to conquer it.


When his head damage is fixed and he reverts back to his original programming, said original programming is "conquer this planet in the name of the galactic empire that sent me here".


We don't really don't what happened to the alien empire after the movie, though...

He definitely came from outer space somewhere; the opening of the movie is the Giant crashing to Earth. But really, exactly where he came from and why is irrelevant to the story.
