Description Bah! I'm figuring out how to do fur, but rescuing this one from spatters was like an archeology project. I attempted to use tracing paper as a frisket. It did not end well. I actually ended up having to repair the original with whiteout, and then spent a good 3 hours in Photoshop. Part of the reason I ink by hand is to reduce digital time.
Anyway. I think I will just do spatters digitally from now on. It can't possibly take as long as repairing the damage real media ones do.

I prefer inking by hand, I actually like that your process is not exclusively digital.

I knew from the pencils that this was going to be amazing. I especially like how you handled the shadow on the foreleg.

Still waiting for the kickass colors to be up (said the person who hasn't drawn anything in a week).

Yeah, I know, I was working on things last night and it just wasn't meshing. But I'll try to get things up soon!

Hmm... what about a scratch board?

I really like the contrasting effects between the round, organic splatters and the blocky lineart.

Frankly I admire you for even trying with the traditional media - I'm a class one failure at it most of the time, oops. In any case, I'm loving these peices as well, it's really cool to look at!

Instantly knew this was yours, even without having to see your name. You have such a talent with these black and white panels, and I love your style.

Fur is really tough, but I think you pulled it off well, here!

I adore the way you stylize paws. <3

You know what you could do? Spatter on a separate page and then put them together in Photoshop. Then just fill the character with white, (select outside, inverse, contract by 2 or 3, fill in separate layer as white), then have the spatter below that.

Woah, I haven't seen you draw this character in ages! It's Vindex right?

Yes indeed. He's still alive and kicking, and the story he's in is currently getting a revamp in the hopes of winning a writing contest.

Did you consider doing the figure and the splatter on two separate sheets, then combining them? This already has a sort of "cut-out" look to it, so you could do manual surgery and paste the wolf on top. Or you could scan them as two different documents and then stitch them together in photoshop.

I'm probably going to do a sheet of bristol with random spatters on it, scan it in Photoshop, and use that texture. Surgery is surgery. It's just easier when it's digital.
It was nice doing the spatters as a way to "free" myself from perfectionism, but dammit, it's annoying to have to clean up so much.
