Random Facts

-When there is abundant food, the fat tailed dunnart stores extra fat in their tails as a source of energy for when food is scarce. During the winter their tails shrink as the dunnart uses up the stored fat to survive.

-During the winter dunnarts nest in groups to conserve heat and energy and may experience torpor. It is not uncommon for dunnarts and house mice to nest together during cooler months. Once the weather gets warm again, the house mouse may become prey to the dunnart.
