Description Why the 'spectacular'?
These are both made totally, over and under, every inch, from quatersawn spiral grained oak.
See the cross-crossy lines? That covers every part, down to the corbels.
These beauties were from years of saving all those wee odd pieces that had that distinct grain.
We created these two beauties, petite-in-size but oversized in eye popping features .
Magnificent from back to front.

THESE HAVE SOLD! Personally no longer for sale, but you can request, of course, for similar.

I love the lines of the stands.

Not having seen the pieces prior to the making of these stands I wonder if it could have been executed with left and right slanting grains rather than have the grain going in the same direction on both.

I know that doesn't necessarily happen but it would have made the pieces a bit more interesting to me.

I totally know what you are saying about the lines conflicting.
Actually, in the last year we've made effort (especially on the ash legs) to make legs on pairs match in such a way. We like our fronts to move in a pattern, and we like our pairs to match.
These were older, done in our old manner, and it's the only regret I have about them.
They'd have been TOTALLY perfect if we had done that. But hey , I just will start setting aside the spiral I find again... and in a few years we'll have THE perfect piece.

The complexity of the wood grain is really offset by the clean, elegant lines of the design. Awesome combination!
