Description For a contest at: Also for:

The challenge of the contest was to make a new idea for a section of a new Fantasia (if Disney were ever to make another one.)

So, I chose to do a section based on Anansi the Spider. (Because I've liked him since I was a wee little girl hiding in a corner at school reading a children's book based on him.)
He's a character from African folklore.

The story goes something like this...
Once there were no stories in the world. The Sky-God, Nyame, had them all. Anansi went to Nyame and asked how much they would cost to buy.

Nyame set a high price: Anansi must bring back Onini the Python, Osebo the Leopard, the Mmoboro Hornets, and Mmoatia, the dwarf.

To catch Osebo, Anansi simply dug a hole, and when the leopard fell in, Anansi offered to help him out with his webs. Naturally, once he was out, Osebo couldn't escape from the sticky stuff, and that's how the cat was caught.

If you want to know how he got the other dudes, just look Anansi up at Wikipedia.

The only music I can think of that would be funny and varried enough to go with this idea at the moment would be sections from Modest Mussorgsky's Pictures at an Exhibition. So, let's go with that.

Don't mind me... Just sneaking through and favoriting stuff.    2014, now having a favorite is a verb.

I remember Anansi. :3 I listened to and read so many of the stories about the little clever arachnid. Very nice illustration of the scene; they both look great!

It would be a good sequence for a Fantasia. I can almost see it unfold in my brain. xD

This seriously needs all love it can get!
Beautiful idea and beautifully executed!

I personally know Anansi more from Neil Gaiman's interpretation of him (and I loved it), but he's an amazing character nonetheless and would make a wonderful Disney Fantasia sequence ^^

Also there is a book by Neil Gaiman "Children of Anansi". A very good one by the way.

Hey, I heard of this folktale. You illustration of that particular part of it is great.

And, I agree, that tale would make for an excellent Fantasia sequence.
