Vážil 9 tun a uvezl 10 pěšáků, kulometčíka, velitele a řidiče.

The Sd.Kfz. 251 (Sonderkraftfahrzeug 251) half-track was an armored fighting vehicle designed and first built by Hanomag company during World War II. The largest and best armored of the wartime half-tracks, the Sd.Kfz. 251 was designed to transport the panzergrenadiers of the German mechanized infantry corps into battle. Sd.Kfz. 251s were the most widely produced German half-tracks of the war, with over 15,252 vehicles and variants produced in total by various manufacturers, and were commonly referred to simply as "Hanomags" by both German and Allied soldiers.

My understanding is that the chassis could not really support the PaK 40 and so the vehicles had a very short life span. This was both due to its light armor making it only good for ambush attacks, but also because the chassis and driving gear would fail fairly quickly.

Not really since a number of halftracks carried 75mm guns and 100mm(ish) mortars.

The Sdkfz 251 was built and mounted with flame projectors, PaKs, StuKa rocket launchers, and 81mm (+) mortars.

As for the Sdkfz 250, it was normally an MG42, or MG34, and an 81mm mortar.

Not sure about its gear since it was already used as hauler. I agree that life span was short but I doubt that driving gear was something they had reason to worry about.
