Description Oil on Canvas, 6 x 8 inches. This is my second painting in oil so far (but I've done works in acrylic prior) and it was to practice how to do trees and set up a landscape. I also wanted to play with composition, light, as well as depth. I was tempted to give the painting a title, light before the storm, or something like that. But for now, I'll leave it as a simple study. I'm pretty proud of it and I can't wait to apply the things that I learned on a bigger scale.

I personally love the strokes - very vibrant and alive, à la Van Gogh, without copying the style of the Master. The watcher can just feel the summer breeze and the fresh air swooping in their hair.

The light is really inspiring a quiet nice moment and invites the watcher to relax and enjoy the moment.

Reading that is the second painting in this style, I can only encouraging the artist to do more and get his skills into a deeper level.

Beautiful motion in the tree's leaves - which make me wonder, why is the grass still. A little motion would add much more the feeling of what is represented in other elements of the painting.

The clouds are also gorgeous, and I totally agree on the grey shading to make the emphasis of their reality and weight, I would only suggest to go a little more subtle with the grey tones - maybe a shade or two paler and try more linear shapes ? It does feel the canvas nicely, but with a second look, it looks a tad bit over crowded.

Personally, I would suggest to add a little river or a small water source to add an element of leisure to this already beautiful landscape. Maybe sprinkle a few wildflowers or bugs to create more life in this nature which is blossoming with life e.deviantart.net/emoticons/b/b… " width="15" height="15" alt="" title=" (Big Grin)"/>

Keep up the great work e.deviantart.net/emoticons/w/w… " width="15" height="15" alt="" title=" (Wink)"/> You are really good at this e.deviantart.net/emoticons/b/b… " width="15" height="15" alt="" title=" (Big Grin)"/>

Awesome!! Is there anything you can give me as tips to draw/color/paint landscapes, because I can never get them right! There's probably something I haven't noticed yet about them...I just don't know what it is...Like I have no idea what pattern there is.

Thanks! and what I usually do at the moment is make sure there is something (Like trees or flowers) that go from large to small as you move further away, large up from and get smaller, I guess that helps with perspective. I also would do hills, mountains, or trees in the far distance to get a sense of the depth some more. Also no land is really too flat, so if you try adding slight hills for the ground then you should get a great landscape. I'm not sure any of that helps, but just look at some photos or look around outside or whenever you travel and just take a look at how the land around you looks, that's what I'm doing to teach myself, that and doing them a bunch, ha.

WOW! beautiful! wish i was there in person! One of my favorite things, in this and all your work, is the sky. I love the way you use different shades of blue and bot just a flat color.

Thank you I wish it was a real place myself, ha. And yeah, I love painting the sky, it is one of my obsessions almost. The one I'm working on right now has a huge sky and I think it has turned out pretty well. But yeah, Thank you again
