Description
I CAN'T UNDERSTAND STA.SH WRITER FOR THE LIFE OF ME SAWB THIS TOOK HOURS AND IT'S SO SIMPLE IT MAKES ME MAD. I tried. Inspiration: I wanted a pathological liar who didn't really have anything to hide like some super dramatic dark past where they killed people. idk. And I wanted a nicer guy too who's "acting normal" was more of super kind. Then the whole "he turns everything into something helpful on accident came inspired from wreck-it ralph =3=
Look at this scary picture even though the worst you'd probably get from him is a silent treatment HAHAHAHA
I WILL NOT ADMIT THAT I ONLY JOINED THIS FACTION BECAUSE THE LEADER IS A HOMESTUCK, I WILL NOT ADMIT.

His hair isn't purple at the ends, sorry I felt creative and that's just my bad attempt at stylized shading.
Name: Aster Bak
Nickname: Anything he tells you he is. He tends to mix up his names.
Age: 19
Division: Animi et Corpus
Weapons:
Toxic spray cans:
Among his other spray cans for graffiti art, he has carrying other cans of chemicals he designs. They can range from acid, to pepper spray, to anesthetic if desired. It makes him a very potent killer if he wants to. He has basic knowledge of hand-to-hand, but it’s only effective against people who can’t fight and not meant to fight off those with experience.
While acid may burn through flesh, it is most certainly not the first thing he goes for.

Likes and Dislikes:
+Sour food
+Lying
+Art
+Chemical Design
+Not having to talk
-Having to sit still
-Working (who does?)
-Fighting
-Using profanity
-Cold weather (it makes his lungs act up)
Strengths and Weaknesses:
+Chemical Design: He has an inclination toward recreating and creating chemicals and drugs, he’s actually better at making medicinal compounds than he is at making things for hurting people. Even if he tries to do the opposite of medicinal concoctions, something goes right. He generally is forced to seek help when he wants something deadly--even after being taught how, his memory will twist it into something good on accident.
+Lying: Being a pathological liar means he lies all day, everyday, to the people around him and himself. This basically makes him fluent, it’s his first language.
+Temper: He usually can stay in control of himself in any situation, he doesn’t let his feelings toward other people interfere with his decision-making. He tends to not have enemies either, and remains as polite as he possibly can even against an “arch enemy”.
+Minor Calculations: He tends to look in finer detail than he needs to, rather than looking at big pictures. He does very well in revising plans given to him so he can consider where things can go wrong. But if he’s given the fine details, instead of looking at a big picture he’ll try to look even finer. Explanations may take a while for him.
+Acute vision: While mostly weak in other areas, he has supreme vision when not affected by external forces. He would make a great long-range shooter if he was taught, he hides this though and rarely comments on things he can see in the far distance.
-Low self-esteem: He doesn’t trust in himself and his own abilities, making decisions hard if he’s not kept at an emotional distance from the subject.
-Naturally sickly: From birth he’s had incurable lung problems, the condition is nameless due to its drastic changes from fluid-filled to bone-dry in short periods of time. Due to a lack of oxygen processing, he can’t reach the functionality of the average human being. He lacks the ability to create a lot of muscle mass and he avoids field work as much as possible.
-Lack of stamina: Because of his medical state of being, he is in no state to do anything for long periods of time, and prefers to work behind the scenes for missions. When he’s traveling he needs to take constant breaks.
-Dependency on equipment: He won’t make it very far without his mask. it acts as a filter for the air, protects him from his own weapons, can act as a nebulizer, hide a good portion of his face when he needs to hide emotions, and can be used as an excuse not to talk (even though he can, he prefers not to). If broken, taken, or doesn’t have clean filters then he won’t last long before crippling.
-Lying: On here twice, it doubles as a weakness. The habit is ingrained that he often believes his own lies and confuses it with the truth. He also has trust issues from this (If you can’t trust yourself, who can you trust?) and maintaining relationships are hard.
Personality:
"We live in a world built on promises..."
"...constructed by liars."
- Unknown
//Pathological Liar //Untrusting //Overly Kind //Quiet //Shy
He is practically unable to function without lying, even about completely unneeded things like if he had a cat when he was ten. It is almost never intended for harm and is just a deep stemming habit, but he is fully connected to his lies to the point where his views on reality can be twisted out of proportion. When caught in one of these lies, if he’s not confused, he will become irrationally upset with the person and/or more likely himself. He can even have a small, identity-crisis related panic attack based on being caught.
His pride in himself is also very low, causing him to doubt most of his own decisions and let people lead him around and make said decisions for him. His least favorite question has to be: “Are you sure?”. He usually ignores the feelings of self-disappointment unless his flaws are thrown out into the open (especially about his ailment affecting his capabilities). If it’s only insinuated he will lie around the issue.
Outwardly, he is overly polite and kind to the point where it’s abnormal or even considered flirtatious. He will avoid touchy subjects, not use profanity unless company insists (if the time comes where someone will try to get him to use curse words, he will likely stutter for a long time in embarrassment), and openly tries to keep people happy. He may accidentally give an odd compliment such as telling anyone straight up that they are attractive or he likes their personality, or an enemy may suddenly receive praise with no ulterior motive.
His kindness can be taken as a sign of trust or weakness as well, when in fact he trusts nobody or himself. He prefers to be reserved and not talk about himself, resulting in lies when questioned. The closest symbol of trust he’ll provide is to people who can keep on with his constant stream of false tales. He’s more likely to put his faith in people who can call him out on any lie, every time, and can eventually get to a point where he’ll stop fibbing to certain people all together because they would have won the abstract game that is Aster’s friendship. Some people won’t even try to pursue it because of his irrational distress when he’s called out.
He has an entire inner monologue going on when he's talking to people. While he goes out of his way to be nice, he doesn't prefer to make unneeded commentary. Being in crowded areas makes him fidget more than usual, and the same applies for confrontations. He looks down and away from people's eyes, keeps his voice down, has very short statements that don't go into detail, doesn't handle people that come on strong very well, stays only in the company of a few people at a time before trying to leave the area, and gets lost in his own thoughts when something is not commanding his immediate attention. He would never outwardly admit that someone is bothering him, but his body language can generally explain that so anybody trying to pay attention.

Aster’s mother and father met when his mother went on a business trip to Korea, where she met him. Since his birth, they continued to move around a lot for his mother’s business and father’s research-- they strongly believed a child should be able to adapt a lot and learn it early on rather than later. As Aster began to go to school, he began the game of inventing a new self everytime. His early years of school were spent being made fun of for not understanding certain things or being too polite, but he didn’t like the label of “nice guy” even though it was ingrained in his nature.
He began to make “friends” with the more dangerous factions of company that hid in darker alleys, getting popular while keeping safe on the rumor that his father was a drug lord. The many “friends” he made around stuck with him on the idea that they’d get something out of it. Aster wasn’t oblivious, and he needed to start providing to stay in this loop. This meant another face and some sucking up.
Aster’s father’s field of study was chemical effects on human anatomy, and he was constantly after the idea of his son following in his footsteps while Aster’s mother ingrained her own habits and personality into his behavior. Aster had never taken to the invitation of from his father and instead prefered to paint on walls, now he began to suck up to the man. It took him a long time to reach what he wanted, but eventually he got to the point where he could make any concoction he truly desired. He could make any fake friends he wanted with the drugs he could make. He continued to follow along with his father’s tutoring, wanting to keep the facade for fun, but also began to enjoy it as a hobby second to graffiti art.
After years of moving an repeating the process, the family caught on to what was going on. A tension snapped and the pressures of what his relatives expected from him closed in on him with their words. He did try to lie his way out of it, but he doesn’t remember anything after being caught red handed besides waking up in the experiment. His memory of the two following years is wiped and he can’t recall the end result of the dispute or what his career path is, it drives him crazy sometimes not knowing.
“The liar's punishment is..."
"...not in the least that he is not believed..."
"...but that he cannot believe anyone else.”

Additional info:
-Completely abstains from profanity in the presence of others unless desired directly and openly by his company, even then he’s reluctant.
- He has a habit of walking directly behind someone, making a straight file. He doesn’t notice doing it.
- His voice sounds hoarse at all times like he’s got a cold (he pretty much does), but it sounds more fluid in the summer with the heat comforting his harsh airways. He is very quick to stop talking and get through his sentences, while mumbling at the same time, and make it hard for people to understand him when he does speak.
