Quiet possibly the most awkward person in the school, Ren is boyish-looking girl that has problems dealing with her job as a Reaper. Being the Spirit of Death for people ages eighteen and under, Ren is often seen moping around and avoiding eye contact with people by either pulling her hood lower on her face or covering her eyes with her long bangs. However, people do not see her as a regret-ridden tomboy, but are instead frightened of her. Ren has difficulty expressing herself, and her slightly obsessive-compulsive behavior of hiding her face is often seen as a threatening act. She emanates a natural aura of fear and hates it. She wishes she could just be left alone to draw and paint (though aspects of her job manifest in her paintings, adding to her dark image). Ren often has problems dealing with gender confusion and being popular with girls.

I was just wandering.. Has Ren any prototype in real Life?
You see i have a friend - she look just like Ren, she even scares me sometimes! But she's a good person, very kind but beloved with vampires and shinigamies and other such stuff.. and she has really scary look! It just makes you frozen sometimes.
And i was really excited and shocked when i saw Ren at first - 'cuz looking at her i see my best friend!

Salad Days is a term by Willaim Shakespeare, from his play "Anthony and Cleopatra"
it means "a time of youthful innocence"

I just realized that Ren is really tall compared to most of the girls I've met...they're usually somewhere between 5'1" and 5'6" at most...might be part of the reason why she's so intimidating.
