Some illustrations and concepts for my and Bee’s fantasy world !
I've been holding onto this one for a while, oops! Finally cleaned it up this morning and decided to post him
This cute fella is Elliel 's buddy, Disir. He's a Warg, or Dire Wolf, which is a common mount used in the North for fast travel.
Like the humanoid races (see bottom of artist's comments), I wanted all the animals in this world to be referencing popular high-fantasy creatures (wargs, dragons, unicorns etc), but with a twist. For the wargs, they’re a mix of wolves and deer. The females grow antlers and the males don’t, which I want to draw soon
I'm admittedly not very good at creature designs, but practice makes perfect ahhh ( ; ▽ ; )ﾉ

I think it's really vicious and looks quite good. The figure riding him is in nice proportion. Great job, I think it's really original.

I know that the fantasy people are free to create, or so im told by my sis who has been following you. but is it ok to make a mount like this for a north nomad? and maybe a bit more bulky like a stag?

The Nomads ride on Wargs too, and the females actually grow antlers like a stag. I don't have a full illustration of a female yet, but you can see some doodles of them halfway down this sketchdump:

yeah thicker like tianda i think she is called. I wasnt too concerned about the antlers more or less just the body thickness since nomads are thick and would look rather strange on a thinner mount lolol. I feel like i'd have to draw the poor mount struggling under the OC xD

I love how their all skinny and spindly, but still mean looking as hell. Probably is one of the best guard dogs out there

I love that the females have antlers - would they shed them? Are they for the defense of pups? It would make sense! But if it's for the defense of pups, they wouldn't have any real need to shed them yearly . . .

The antlers are definitely for defending pups, and their pack in general. I was actually considering having matriarchs having big antlers, and the younger beta females having smaller antlers (like two-prongs?)

Ooh, the older matrairchs have the larger antlers? Makes me wonder if pregnancy triggers a little more horn growth each time - that'd mean the large racks are a good sign of fertility! Picturing the younger betas with two-prong antlers just really, really fits.

OKAY BUT LIKE THE WOLF DEER MIX IS THE COOLEST SHIT YOU MIXED PREY WITH ITS NATURAL PREDATOR I MEAN COME ON. I love love love this mix the deer legs and feets but it's so fucking creeps still too. I actually mixed design elements from coyotes and greyhounds too! It helps with that creepy-skinny look and works really well with deer legs :'D
