Description
Kalta is a righteous man of nomadic origin, skilled in both archery and magic. He leads the notorious Clan of Storms, a family of mercenaries and ex-soldiers bound by loyalty over blood. Even though his clan is known for being unconventional, Kalta is the vision of the traditional, quintessential Nomad– strict but loving, patient but firm, strong but compassionate. He’s a fearsome fighter and master of mounted archery, and is known for casting blinding snow storms.
Despite all his regality and control, his temper gets the better of him more often than not, hinting at his younger, more rebellious days.
Kalta shares his life with his loving Ogre partner and three adopted children, who he hopes will take over the Clan of Storms in the future.
So I know people were asking for other characters, but I’ve been wanting to give Kalta his own bio sheet for years now. He’s technically the main character of the first part of my story for these guys… so it’s a crime he didn’t get a sheet earlier.
His design has gone through a lot of iterations and may still change in the future, but I’m really happy with it for now! I think the ice on his armor was the little touch he needed.

God I feel so much closer to Kalta's character. I really really love everything about this and I'm so excited that you were so incredibly inspired to do this. Honestly the mood that radiates off of him - wistful as bee put it - is so elegant and quietly commanding and I love how you're able to capture that. The detail, the ice, the everything about this handsome man makes me SO HAPPY and I'm so proud of you for this.

and the clothing and armor is so pristine, I'm blinded. And!! and the little details like the ice shards and the grooves in the ropes, and how the cloth bunches together and tapers off on his left leg; little details like that is what I love about your character designs :,)

Question: How do his arrows stay in his quiver? Are they slightly embedded in something, or maybe just a very tight fit? It also looks like he could hold more than 4 at a time; is that true and he just has 4 for aesthetic reasons, or are there specifically 4 slots?
Love the use of rope in his outfit, gives a strong feeling of tradition and practicality and immediately brings to mind ideas for decoration.
Where did you look when designing his crutch and prosthesis? I'm working on some worldbuilding/RPG stuff right now, and really want to be address disabilities with the respect, realism, and grace you always seem to manage, but it never quite feels right.

His arrows are embedded in something, yeah! I don't know if it's actually used in any kind of real-world quiver, but I always imagined it for him for some reason. As far as the amount of arrows, both his and Elliel's quivers are based loosely on traditional Mongolian ones, which are often illustrated with fewer arrows held down by straps like what I've drawn. It was also inspired by a video that got viral, talking about a world-class archer's research and speculation on how archers probably didn't carry quivers into battle with them, but rather held them in their hand for rapid firing.
And his crutch was based on some WW1-era crutches, while his pegleg was kind of speculative on my part. I couldn't find any from a specific era that worked for what I wanted, so I did a general google search and based it on that.

Not the artist, but if you look carefully at the quiver and arrows on the center image, you can see a strap going across each arrow (same color as the quiver, just not outlined)! I assume that's how it stays put.
As for how he takes them out, I figure it may be like velcro straps? Or perhaps the arrows don't have a wide point. This I'm not too sure on.

That's a superb character design. Not just his uniqueness, but also the silver armor does giving harmonic feeling with dark red and blue, which they're easily contrasted if not careful.
If only there's more familiar artwork about disabled warriors, not just normal amputees.
