Description
Locked Freedom...This drawing is totally done without references.
Again, a drawing from my own imagination.
My third drawing of this style..
This one contains less detail then the other ones.
I hope the title explains the drawing.
Wings are freedom...
I just love wings... since I was a child, I always wanted to fly... fly away. Maybe that's why I gave these characters wings.
I added some more colour to this drawing with photoshop.

Gevangen in een wereld van verdriet en pijn.
Geen gevoelens om te uiten,
Voor altijd alleen zijn.
Je hart is om van te houden,
Vleugels zijn om te vliegen.
Je hoeft alleen nog maar vol te houden.
Volhouden om te blijven leven,
Zonder verdriet en pijn,
Om zo naar de toekomst toe te leven.

This is my favourite piece from everything I've seen on DA or anywhere else.
Since I was young, a viewed wings as the most beautiful thing that ever existed, but in this picture, to me, the brokeness of this character is gorgeous. The way he is holding his chains himself, how he's keeping himself locked up... And how since, he's the one who has chained himself he is free in a different way....... This is amazing.

het is geweldig om je potlood op papier te zetten, je ogen te sluiten, te kijken naar de beelden die zich in je hoofd afspelen en dat dan uiteindelijk op je papier te krijgen.

Dat klopt, maar het nadeel is wel dat met "intellectueel"-realisme tegen "Observatie/translatie"-realism de nuances mist die net DIE overtuiging geven. Het verschil tussen wat je oog ziet wat echt is en wat je denkt dat echt is. Maar daar krijg je een geweldige vrijheid en rauwe, onvervalste stijl voor terug.
Ik ben bezig met een realistisch portret en de achtergrond is bijna helemaal gefantaseerd. De wolken zijn een beetje onwerkelijk, maar het past prima bij de tekening. Ik heb gemerkt dat juist de achtergrond het leukste is om te doen 
Je bent nog erg jong en een voorsprong in zowel leeftijd als talent. Ik raad je zeker aan om dit soort artistieke grenzen te gaan verleggen, want dit vergroot het eigenlijke begrijpen van HOE iets getekent moet worden, louter dan de domweg vertalen van tonen en een arsenaal aan techniek!
Je bent geweldig op weg!

Again, beautiful - I love how the chain binding the characters wings appears to be controlled by the character themselves, as if the only reason their bound is because they themselves are holding themselves down...

I love how you portray him holding himself in with the chains. Its like he wants to be free, but his fear of freedom is stronger. he is content with staying with what he knows, and dosnt want to try something new.

thats awesome! i used to be really good at making things up out of the blue, i used to always have about 10 ideas going through my head at the same time, but recently im just out of ideas entirely, i spent ages staring at the blank page not knowing what to draw today. i guess i need some inspiration. but yeah, cool pic

It's beautiful. It has a sense of sadness to it, almost like he's begging you to set him free. Amazing work, especially since it's done with no referencing. I'm no good at pulling things out of my immagination.
