The strangest and most isolated of the griffin breeds, Paradise-griffins make their home on the island nation of Paradisaea, in the farthest reaches of the Great Sea. The small clan is rules by a single chieftain, always male, with a few close advisers. Males have iridescent throats and long plumes streaming from their flanks. The breed is by far the rarest of the three, and its survival hangs in the balance. It is thought by many to have died out completely, but a remnant few still live, though they are seen as a favorite prey item by any werewolves or vampires in the area, who place them second only to humans. The Paradise-griffins are a peaceful breed who do not believe in war or violence. The only weapons they use are wooden staffs, which can still be fatal but kill without bloodshed. The breed is very superstitious and finds it hard to trust anyone with rare or unusual powers.
