Project in Senior Art = Book Sculptures

I think this is pretty much...my favorite project we've done in class. The instructions were to take a book and essentially destroy it to make something else...ish
And when going through the box of books that we could use I came across one on the arguments of nuclear reactors, waste, and weapons. I assume everyone could imagine the light bulb that went off in my head...

It was practically like a sign....

So now...for your entertainment...Imma give a little info on the pages!

Cover = This was created using pages torn out from the book, I found pictures and titles and words that I wanted to use that kinda described the 2019 world
ie 'Safety Program in Shambles', 'Questions still unanswered', 'End the secrecy', 'Contaminated Sites' with a pic of Cali under it, etc

Inside cover = Painted the inside cover black, pasted a Battery City Times cover [with burned edges]. Opposite page, 'Discard' had been pre-written, so I ran with that and added the exterminate posters along with painted Starbuck's Frappuccino lids

Second Page = 'Disposing of Waste' that's about it..except for a little painted Gee figurine down in the corner 8D

Third Page = Oragami, made of suck XDD also created with pages from the book. Kinda a peace in the middle of chaos thing...I guess

Fourth Page = Have I mentioned I love Dr D...cuz I do

Fifth Page = Blood spatter cuz I can. You also can't really see it but the black squares on the right side are a timeline that ended with 2003 at the top, where I cut out the corners of playing cards to write out '2019'
[I also just realized what page it was on XD 'Modernizing Nuclear Weapons Production', I actually didn't plan that...but it's good]

Sixth Page = Tried to paint a sunset then add a bit of dimension by gluing on more painted paper to act as the sun and clouds. Wrote S/C/A/R/E/C/R/O/W/ because I love that song

Seventh Page = Didn't have enough time to glue all those pages together so I cheated and paper clipped em all. Another '2019'. And then a little BL/ind figure...I was so proud when I painted it cuz it came out so well!!

Eighth Page = Fail trying to make the zones on a Cali map

Ninth Page = Cut up a GI Joe bullet belt to spell out 'Look Alive'

Back Cover = Exterminate pic along with prototype gun. And broken tv...ran out of time to attach glass pieces so...bummer

Back = Full tv
