Description While most adult male orcas do their bows like this, Keet definitely has his own way of doing all his behaviors (regardless of what the trainers seem to want lol). His bows aren't the best but they are amazing to see every time!

Taken during One Ocean @ SeaWorld San Diego on 7/5/13.

Omg he is getting big! (somtimes I even mistake him as uli ) it looks like these anti caps aren't smart enough to realize that you can't free lazy and laid back orcas like keet :I

Neat! The killer whale is the largest, the toughest and the most powerful member of the dolphin family. This is a male because males could bend their fins like that, while females can't.

Thank you! In orcas, while males' dorsals are larger than females', females' dorsals are still capable of bending. They are made of the same material. Males just have a greater chance of bending since their dorsals are so much larger.

Orcas also known as killer whales are really dolphins, not whales. Orca is the largest and strongest member of the dolphin. They also known as blackfish, even though they're not fishes, they're mammals. Also, I just known as "sea pandas" and "pandas of the sea" because they're black and white like pandas.Β

Yep. Males are larger with larger dorsals.

This is a nice photo of a beautiful animal, i understand what you are saiyng in the description, however your title just does not fit. Dont get me wrong but if it really was "his way" he would be in the open ocean enjoying his life in his natural habitat. Freedom would be "His Way".

And how would you know that? I daresay you don't know anything about how Keet really is because he was born in captivity and probably has the worst possible personality and mannerisms for a release candidate. He is a lazy and slow whale to begin with and lived his whole life being fed and cared for by humans. If he had to fend for himself, the results would not be pretty (even for a captive-born, he'd probably do far worse).

By the way, I do not appreciate you coming to my gallery to pick a fight about captivity. If you don't like seeing them in captivity or can't hesitate to make comments about it, I suggest you stay away from my photos.

EchoBeluga i dont want to pick a fight with you or with anyone, i was browsing popular deviations and clicked on your photo and just made a non offensive comment stating my opinion. If you do not agree with my opinion that is fine, everybody can and should have his/her own opinion and views about something. I am sorry if i offended you that was not my intention, if you want me to stay away from your photos i will respect that. I just want to say that we humans think that we know everything about those animals but the reality is that we simply do not.

You need to remember that this is deviantART, not a discussion forum. People generally use this website to share artwork, not opinions. Anyone who comes to my gallery with unrelated comments such as captivity-related remarks can expect an unfriendly response or to have their comments hidden. Anyone is welcome to view my photos, but it's not a place to debate about captivity.

I also need to mention that what I said about Keet is not an opinion. It is a fact that Keet is a lazy and largely sedentary whale and was born in captivity, knowing virtually no survival skills outside of human care. It is a fact that animals with behavioral deficiencies and raised to think humans are safe can be relied upon are poor candidates for release. I'm not saying that release is a bad thing if all the conditions are right. But Keet is probably among the worst candidates among all captive orcas to be released.

Thank you! I'm glad I got lucky with how this turned out. Actually Ulises' bows are the weirdest of all the bulls if you think about it lol but yes, Keet is the only one who does bows like this at SWC.

It's funny to see the differences in the behaviors of each bull. I live in Florida and every now and again when we get lucky enough to see Tilikum its always amazing just to watch them do the simplest things. he does bows every now and again when "he" feels like it it's incredible to see that massive 6 ton individual leaping from the water. you got an amazing shot !

EchoBeluga In reply to RaptorFire [2013-07-22 22:51:58 +0000 UTC]

Yeah, Keet and Tillikum are pretty similar in that sense! I agree, his bows are probably my favorite to see, mostly because they're not so common and you can see the effort it takes for him to do that kind of jump. Thank you so much!

lol sometimes Keet does things the high way (I count clearing the water as high for him). But even for those jumps, he seems to have his own spin on them.

I really like this shot! Then again, I'm a sucker for the awesome captures when the water is really detailed.

Love it!!

Thanks! Maybe I should post a few better examples of that if people are into that. I just wanted to share this because I really like it when this particular whale does this kind of jump.

Well, I probably like it all. If it's not horses I'm drooling over it's orcas. Keep the awesome photos coming, and I'll be a happy watcher lol
