This was a study of George Romney's "Perdita", English actress Mary Robinson. Original painting can be found here: [link]

One of two paintings I had in Galleri Bastian in Oslo in December. A close-up shot on the face can be found here: [link]

This was my first oil painting ever, and I did it for school. I had to rush it in the end, so it doesn't quite look like her, but I am happy with it anyway. And oils were fun, I'm working on another painting right now. I love comments and critism!

it is darker than the original and has less detail. yet it still has its charm :]

Very good. I can't realy believe it's your first try with oil.
Her skin looks much smoother than the original's. And your one is lighter, too. I like this version more, somehow...

Thank you! Since it was my first try I didn't really have the necessary control to make an exact copy of the original, but I like it the way it turned out too.

Wow nice! It's not often you see actual oil paintings on DA. I couldn't do so well on my first try, that's for sure. Keep up the good work!

heh, too fast at commenting for my own good! XD All comments on the close up are still relavent here! XD
As an additional note, the wrinkles on her foremost sleeve are nicely sculpted... the shaping of the hat seems kind of off, but God knows what sort of contraptions the 18th Centuary had for that sort of thing...

Yeah, the hat was the last thing I painted, 2 am in the morning of the same day as the deadline. XP Thanks though!
