Nice study. Just a comment: Being familiar with Lake George, Black Mountain shown here—while looking impressive from the lake—is somewhat exaggerated in height in Kensett's painting. But art is an act of impression, so I am by no means faulting the original or your excellent recreation.

Ohh, that's pretty cool fact to know! Hudson River School people (Who Kenset was part of ) had an interesting process where they went to these certain areas to do studies, sketches etc for long periods of time. When they got back to their studios they simply combined these elements & added a bit of fiction to create more dynamic scenes & compositions.
