Description 1 Corinthians 15:22
22 For as in Adam all die, so in Christ all will be made alive.

Romans 5:6-21
6 You see, at just the right time, when we were still powerless, Christ died for the ungodly. 7 Very rarely will anyone die for a righteous man, though for a good man someone might possibly dare to die. 8 But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us. 9 Since we have now been justified by his blood, how much more shall we be saved from God's wrath through him! 10 For if, when we were God's enemies, we were reconciled to him through the death of his Son, how much more, having been reconciled, shall we be saved through his life! 11 Not only is this so, but we also rejoice in God through our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom we have now received reconciliation. 12 Therefore, just as sin entered the world through one man, and death through sin, and in this way death came to all men, because all sinned-- 13 for before the law was given, sin was in the world. But sin is not taken into account when there is no law. 14 Nevertheless, death reigned from the time of Adam to the time of Moses, even over those who did not sin by breaking a command, as did Adam, who was a pattern of the one to come. 15 But the gift is not like the trespass. For if the many died by the trespass of the one man, how much more did God's grace and the gift that came by the grace of the one man, Jesus Christ, overflow to the many! 16 Again, the gift of God is not like the result of the one man's sin: The judgment followed one sin and brought condemnation, but the gift followed many trespasses and brought justification. 17 For if, by the trespass of the one man, death reigned through that one man, how much more will those who receive God's abundant provision of grace and of the gift of righteousness reign in life through the one man, Jesus Christ. 18 Consequently, just as the result of one trespass was condemnation for all men, so also the result of one act of righteousness was justification that brings life for all men. 19 For just as through the disobedience of the one man the many were made sinners, so also through the obedience of the one man the many will be made righteous. 20 The law was added so that the trespass might increase. But where sin increased, grace increased all the more, 21 so that, just as sin reigned in death, so also grace might reign through righteousness to bring eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.

It is said that all of God's creatures, great and small, have a natural covering. Mammals have hair, birds have feathers, and fish have scales. Adam and Eve had that natural ambient glow that represented their walk with God in the cool of the evening. When Adam and Eve ate of the Tree of Knowledge of Good and Evil, that Natural ambient glow was removed, and they were ashamed at their nakedness. They even tried to make fig leaf loincloth for themselves. God had to kill a sheep and make them clothes to wear.

Today, the shed blood of Christ has the covering we need, for without the shedding of blood, there is no remission of sins. Christ took the burden of sin away from us on the cross so we can live once again under grace. We are under a "grace period", where we can accept Christ's free gift of eternal life.

*Adam looks over his shoulder.* "You sure no one's watching? Who's that in the bushes?!" "Chill, Adam, baby. That's just some artist I asked to capture this moment." "Artist? But I look horrible! I'm not finished my tan! How's my hair? Where'd you put my hairbrush?!" "Shuddup and eat!"

(Thinks of a better one...)

"So Adam... How much can you bench?"
"Nothing compared to Adam II."

Couldn't resist. Anyway, awesome work!

I LOVE your work!

This reminds me of a recent conversation I had with a friend. He said that man will make incredible sacrifices for the woman he loves. In this way he reflects the original pattern of manhood, Jesus. Adam sacrificed his holy, unfallen state and took the fruit (knowing completely what he was doing) and ate it in order to share the fate of the woman he loved. She was deceived, he took it knowingly. He reflected the nature of God who would one day do the same thing. Jesus joined his fallen bride and took on her sin and redeemed her. Adam failed but Jesus, the new Adam, succeeded.

Anyhow, I thought I'd share that since it's a rad way to bring Jesus into the Adam & Eve story.

Once again, great work!

Oh Eden indeed.... but it's all going to be restored! And those who have repented and placed their faith in Christ and His atoning work on the cross will be here to enjoy it forever:

"19 The creation waits in eager expectation for the sons of God to be revealed. 20 For the creation was subjected to frustration, not by its own choice, but by the will of the one who subjected it, in hope 21 that the creation itself will be liberated from its bondage to decay and brought into the glorious freedom of the children of God. 22 We know that the whole creation has been groaning as in the pains of childbirth right up to the present time. "
Romans 8:19-22

Thanks for the encouragement!

anisaer In reply to eikonik [2007-02-25 00:36:11 +0000 UTC]

Oh yes, restoration...

"1Then I saw a new heaven and a new earth, for the first heaven and the first earth had passed away, and there was no longer any sea. 2I saw the Holy City, the new Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God, prepared as a bride beautifully dressed for her husband. 3And I heard a loud voice from the throne saying, "Now the dwelling of God is with men, and he will live with them. They will be his people, and God himself will be with them and be their God. 4He will wipe every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death or mourning or crying or pain, for the old order of things has passed away." "
Rev. 21

Thank you for the encouragement.

Thanks!

I had a conversation with a friend about Adam and Eve. He always thought that some quality of light would be inherant in their make up since they were originally created "good" as God called them, made in the image of God himself. Jesus in His glorified state exudes light, so maybe Adam and Eve did as well in their pre-fallen condition.

Excellent job with this and the other works that you submitted recently. You have a real sense for color and ambient lighting. The hints of purples and blues in the shadows really help in giving the work an "overexposed" feeling from the bright sunlight, like how our eyes or a camera would naturally react to such bright light. The Garden of Eden here has a very exotic feel to it, especially from the Tree of Knowledge with the twisted bark. Interesting interpretation on the tree, as we don't know how the tree or its fruit actually looked, but I can imagine that they looked quite different from the other vegetation in the Garden.

Thanks. Cool insight. It's good to know what people are looking at and for.

The tree's twistedness and mix of opposite colors (red/green) is symbolic of the knowledge gained by its fruit, that of Good and Evil. Hopefully it gives that sense of foreboding.

Another addition to the Your colored depiction of Eden is stunning! I can hardly say--! *wordless*

I particularly enjoyed the scripture you included with this piece. Verses 18-21 strike me as being so true of the state of the world today.

THanks for the FAV!

I think you're right.... I may have misunderstood what DA means by mixed media... cause I use colored pencils, ink, paint, and photoshop. Maybe I should change my images' categories.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

SailingBreezes In reply to eikonik [2007-02-23 00:37:12 +0000 UTC]

dA is vague on some of those definitions. I think it depends on which you used more, Digital or Traditional, and then mixed media depends on deliberately mixed media (i.e. a picture composed of copic markers and acrylic paint, if in traditional category).
I suppose it depends on your preference and what you feel you did more work with.

Just another thing:
I'm a little confused about how you do your art. Your deviations are placed under the Traditional category, but they have some parts that look digitally enhanced/colored.

Well, whatever you're doing, it works! The results are all amazing.
